On this day in 1973, the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam and our prisoners of war finally came home. Today, we pause to remember, honor, and thank the brave men and women who served during the Vietnam War.

More than 2.7 million Americans answered the call. Over 58,000 gave their lives. Many more carried the invisible wounds of war for the rest of their lives.

They served with courage in difficult circumstances and deserved a hero’s welcome when they returned — today we make sure they receive the gratitude and respect they always deserved.

To every Vietnam veteran and their families:
Thank you for your service and sacrifice.
We see you. We remember you. We honor you.

On Friday, March 6, 2026, the Alaska Vietnam Veterans of America organization hosted a valuable Spousal and Survivor's Benefits Educational Seminar.

This seminar provided essential information for spouses on the steps to take and the paperwork to have in order if their Veteran partner passes away. It was packed with practical knowledge to help families prepare and access the benefits they've earned.

Here's the link to the full video recording of the seminar — a real wealth of information worth watching and sharing:

The Alaska VVA plans to hold this seminar again next year, so stay tuned for more details!
