7th Summit Shooting Park

It appears Breakup is in full swing! This is the top of the road outside the gate. No, we didn't do this damage. However, for now, we are hoping that common sense might prevail and people will stay off the road until the ground finishes thawing and firms up.

We will keep you all posted as soon as we are able to get on the Park.

It is Thanksgiving week, and we are giving thanks to Grouse Ridge Shooting Park for installing the first International S***t trap machines in Alaska on a brand new field back in 2012-2013! This was about the time we hosted the very first Junior Olympics State Championships in Trap and S***t. (Edit: field was constructed the year prior to our first JO State in 2014)

The machines had interchangeable carousels that held International clay targets. The brand new Promatic Signature S***t machines at 7th Summit also have that capability, and our fields officially opened in early October.

The beauty of International S***t is that it may be shot on any regulation s***t field. It does not require a "special" field at all! Any facility with s***t fields may throw Int'l S***t by simply speeding up the targets to ISSF standards! No bunker, no special machines, no computers. Just more challenging fun with clays!

Early in October we took 3 AKYESS athletes to Tucson, AZ for the USAYESS International Disciplines Camp, and it was way above and beyond my expectations! Gaining greater experience and knowledge from two Olympic coaches was invaluable, and will benefit all our coaching staff and athletes in all the s***t disciplines, American and International!

We are so grateful for the grant that made it possible for us to order the 2nd Promatic Double Wobble trap machine for our first 2 combo trap/s***t fields! Thank you, MEA, for your generous contribution to 7th Summit! Within hours the trap machine was being packed and on its way to the docks in WA! This is huge for our program and local clay target enthusiasts.

We will have to cancel our "Weather Permitting" registered Walkthrough for Saturday, October 11, but we will be open from 9:00-1:00 for a fun shoot. Only $40/100 targets! Last squad out at Noon. If you'd like to shoot Helice, we can open that at 12:30, provided it isn't raining hard. Helice is $3/target.

Our End-of-Summer Walkthrough is Saturday! First flight 10am, last flight 1pm. Only $55/100 targets. New trails, new stations, new presentations! We are excited!

The Helice field is coming together! Hoping for Aug 23 availability! The fence is up, the ditch is done for the machines to be installed. Give us a few days - we still have 10 stations to set for the Walkthrough! The S***t & Trap fields are coming together, but we need 2 trap houses built asap! Pretty exhausted, but very exciting!

We've been pretty busy the past couple weeks, so I haven't been able to catch y'all up on Facebook all we have been working on...such as moving the connexes to their permanent spot. Huge thanks to Susitna Land Mgmt and Bushwood Land Services for clearing the area, Dan the Dozer Man for creating the pad and turnout, and Patriot Towing for moving the connexes! This is HUGE for us! Clearing our parking area, getting ready to put a roof between the containers...
