Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association is a nonprofit that works to expand renewable energy in Michigan through education and advocacy. was founded in 1991.

It's mission is to ‘Promote the use of renewable energy in Michigan and in the Great Lakes Region by empowering our members and the public through Advocacy, Education and Strategic Collaboration.’

GLREA believes that clean, renewable energy like solar and wind

power can provide 100% of the electricity in the Great Lakes Region. Increasing the development and access to clean, locally produced renewable energy supports economic development, creates new good paying jobs and is essential to supporting healthier, more resilient communities that advance climate justice.

Join us on Thursday May 28, 7:00-8:00 PM when Peter Kolbus will share his experience getting 10 kW of solar shingles installed on his home in Plymouth Township, including how solar shingles compare to more traditional solar panels. He'll also share how he's using Home Assistant to improve his comfort and energy efficiency, and talk about his recent EV purchase and how EV charging can fit in with solar energy and home automation to minimize cost.
