Alton Illinois. Five years ago we were standing right where this photo was taken.
Seeing the caution tape and how run-down the old pool looks makes me realize how much these places can change. There’s been talk lately about the Mineral Springs Hotel limiting or closing off the basement to investigators, and a lot of the groups and tours that used to go through there regularly are moving on. Rumors are flying about what happens next.
We got lucky getting down there when we did. That basement has a feel to it that sticks with you, even after you leave.
