Devastating news

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our own — a brave firefighter who served with honor, courage, and selflessness. Shelby Mavis’s dedication to protecting our community will never be forgotten, and her loss leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew her.
During this incredibly difficult time, we are coming together to support their family. A donation account has been established at Farmer’s Bank and Trust (Hope and Prescott Branch) in the name of Shelby Mavis Love Fund to help provide financial support for her loved ones as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. Shelby leaves behind her husband, Damien and 3 children.
If you are able to contribute, any donation — no matter the amount — is deeply appreciated and will go directly to the family. Your kindness, prayers, and support mean more than words can express.
Thank you for standing with us, and for honoring a hero who gave so much to others.

Staying Safe Outdoors
Dress Warmly: Wear layers of loose, lightweight clothing, a hat, mittens (warmer than gloves), and cover your mouth with a scarf to protect lungs.
Limit Exposure: Stay indoors if possible; wet clothing loses insulation quickly.
Avoid Overexertion: Shoveling snow can cause heart attacks; take breaks, stay hydrated, and avoid pushing yourself.
Watch for Cold Injuries: Be aware of frostbite (numbness, pale skin) and hypothermia (shivering, confusion).
At Home & Power Outages
Prevent CO Poisoning: Never use a gas oven/stove to heat your home; keep generators, grills, and camp stoves outdoors and away from windows. Install carbon monoxide detectors.
Prepare for Outages: Have flashlights, extra batteries, blankets, non-perishable food, and water. Leave a light on so you know when power returns.
Conserve Heat: Caulk windows/doors, use plastic coverings for windows, and keep refrigerator/freezer doors closed.
Protect Pipes: Insulate pipes and know how to shut off your water valve if a pipe bursts.
Driving & Travel
Minimize Travel: Stay off roads if conditions are bad.
Winter Car Kit: Carry jumper cables, a flashlight, warm clothes, blankets, sand/kitty litter for traction, and snacks.
Keep Gas Tank Full: Prevents fuel line freeze-up and gives you heat if stranded.
Check on Others
Neighbors: Check on elderly neighbors, those living alone, or anyone with medical needs.
Pets: Bring pets inside and ensure livestock have shelter and non-frozen water.

Funny, but so very true. Don't hesitate to call 911 for emergencies. If no one is going to get hurt or die it is not an emergency. If your girlfriend is mad because you woke her up, YOU can solve that problem yourself. Don't call 911.
