What a night. 🇺🇸

To every guest who joined us, every sponsor who made this possible, and every first responder we had the honor of hosting, thank you. You showed up for The Washington Guard and for our community, and we're so grateful.

Special thanks to Joe Ziegler, Tristan Leavitt, Jamie Allman, and their organizations, Empower Oversight and NEWS Talk STL, and to everyone who helped bring this evening to life.

This is what it looks like when a community stands together. 💙

THE POWER JUST WENT OUT. NOW WHAT?

Most power outages are inconvenient. A prolonged outage can become something much more.

Think beyond flashlights.

How will you charge your phones?
How will you prepare food?
Do you have another way to receive emergency information?
What happens if it’s extremely hot or cold?
Does anyone in your household rely on electrically powered medical equipment?

Preparedness starts by thinking through the problem before you’re standing in the dark.

Preparedness Challenge: Tonight, imagine the power will be off for the next 24 hours. Walk through your house and identify three things you would wish you had.

Then do something about at least one of them.

Ready When It Matters.

Four days out, and this is your last good shot at a seat.

Thursday, October 1, The Washington Guard hosts the world premiere of Shielded by Power: Whistleblowers vs. The Big Guy at Cinema 1 Plus in Washington. First audience anywhere in the country to see it.

Joseph Ziegler, one of the whistleblowers in the film, will be here in person for a live Q&A. Bring your questions.

Doors at 5:00 PM.

$100 a ticket gets you the screening, the Q&A, a cocktail reception with food and drinks, popcorn, soda and an autographed copy of the book.

All of it supports The Washington Guard, a local 501(c)(3).
Cinema 1 Plus, 1900 Phoenix Center Dr.

It's a theater, not a stadium. When the seats are gone, they're gone.

IF YOU GOT STUCK IN YOUR CAR FOR SEVERAL HOURS, WOULD YOU BE OK?

A breakdown, traffic backup, winter storm, or unexpected road closure can turn a normal drive into a very long day.
A few basics in your vehicle can make a big difference:
• Water and shelf-stable snacks
• Flashlight
• Phone charger or power bank
• First-aid kit
• Jumper cables or jump pack
• Blanket and weather-appropriate clothing
• Basic tools
• A little cash
And don’t forget one of the simplest preparedness habits of all: don’t routinely drive around on empty.

Preparedness Challenge: Open your trunk this week and take inventory. What are you missing?

Ready When It Matters.

Last call. Sponsorships close today.

If your business name is going on that screen October 1, today is the day it has to happen. After tonight the program goes to print and the sponsor reel is locked.

$100 puts your name up there. $600 sends four local first responders. $2,500 makes you the Presenting Sponsor.

And the two exclusives are still the best deal in the room — one Cocktail & Drink Sponsor, one Reception & Food Sponsor. One business each, and then they're gone for good.

Every dollar supports The Washington Guard, a local 501(c)(3), right here at home.

Email Deanna at [email protected]
Or call Deanna at 314-486-9999 or Allison at 314-650-1527. We'll walk you through it in five minutes.
