This Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy today and will never be forgotten.

May we live in a way worthy of what they gave.

We remember. We honor.

Today we honor Ott Jasper — WWII Veteran, Normandy Invasion participant, patriot, and one of the last living members of the Greatest Generation.

At 105 years old, Ott lived a life defined by courage, sacrifice, humility, and service to country. He was known and loved throughout the community and many in the Washington Guard had the privilege of knowing him through our Patriot’s Banquet over the years.

Men like Ott helped save the world and preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.

We are grateful for his life, his example, and his service.

Rest easy, sir.

Today we pause.

To remember the officers who left home and never returned.
To honor the sacrifice behind the badge.
To recognize the cost of service.

Their legacy lives on in the communities they protected.

We will not forget.

This week, we recognize the men and women in law enforcement who serve our communities every day.

The long hours.
The difficult calls.
The responsibility most will never fully understand.

We see it.
We respect it.
And we are grateful.

Thank you for standing the line.

Mothers are at the heart of every strong family—and every strong community.

They lead. They protect. They endure.

Today, we honor that strength.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women who make it all possible.

Last night, we had the honor of attending the NJROTC Blue & Gold Ceremony—an evening dedicated to recognizing the hard work, discipline, and achievements of these outstanding cadets.

From celebrating this year’s accomplishments, to recognizing graduating seniors, to watching the next generation of leaders step forward—it was a powerful reminder that the future is in capable hands.

The Washington Guard was proud to present our Leadership & Character Award, recognizing a cadet who exemplifies the values we believe are essential to strong individuals and strong communities.

Our Commander, Colonel Joe S Adams, had the privilege of presenting this award.

We left the evening inspired—by the quality of these young men and women, and by the strength of the program shaping them.

Well done to all the cadets, leaders, and families who make this program what it is.

Recent reports confirm that a U.S. fighter jet was shot down over Iran, with one crew member rescued and another still being searched for.

Moments like this remind us of something most people never think about…

What happens after the crash?

That’s where SERE comes in.

SERE = Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape

It’s the training designed to give our military personnel a fighting chance behind enemy lines— to survive the environment, avoid capture, resist if captured, and make it home.

But the deeper truth is this:

👉 It’s not just about elite pilots.
👉 It’s about mindset, preparation, and the will to survive.

You don’t need to be in a fighter jet to benefit from the principles behind SERE.

Staying calm under pressure
Making smart decisions in uncertain situations
Understanding your environment
Having a plan when things go wrong

That’s what we train.

And that’s what builds confidence—not fear.

While we hope and pray for the safe recovery of the missing pilot and for the safety of all those who still in harm’s way, we’re reminded that preparation matters long before the moment of crisis.

Train now. Think ahead. Stand ready.

🇺🇸 National Vietnam Veterans Day 🇺🇸

Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the men and women who served during the Vietnam War.

Many returned home without the recognition they deserved. Today, we make sure that changes.

To our Vietnam Veterans:
We see you. We thank you. We honor you.

Your service was not easy. Your sacrifices were real. And your example continues to shape what it means to stand ready, protect others, and serve something greater than yourself.

At The Washington Guard, we are committed to carrying forward that legacy—strengthening our communities, preparing our families, and ensuring we are ready when it matters most.

If you know a Vietnam Veteran, take a moment today to reach out and say thank you. It matters.

🇺🇸 Welcome home. And thank you for your service. 🇺🇸

Another strong Washington Guard Training Muster in the books.

This month we trained for reality:

Defending against a firearm at close range
Close-quarters shooting + Air Marshal Qualification
Continued work on guerrilla warfare principles
Intelligence briefing focused on Iran and global impacts

We pushed skills. We challenged thinking. We strengthened readiness.

And we wrapped it up the right way—good people, good conversation, and a great meal together.

This is what preparedness looks like.

If you’ve been watching from the sidelines… it’s time to step in.
