Our 2026 Washington County Rodeo Scholarship winner is Molly Hansmire from Fairbury,Nebraska!
Hello! My name is Molly Hansmire, and I’m the oldest of three daughters born to Michael and Bethany Hansmire. I am a proud 2026 graduate of Fairbury Jr. Sr. High School. I was born and raised in Fairbury, Nebraska, where I grew up helping with my family’s cow-calf operation. Being involved in the operation from a young age developed a strong passion for
agriculture within me. Agriculture has always been a huge part of my life and has taught me the value of hard work, responsibility, and community.
Through my involvement in the operation, I began building my own cattle herd at a young age. I currently own eight fall-calving cows with weaned calves and three first time fall-calving heifers. Along with my herd I have two market steers and two heifers to show at the county fair this year. Raising my own herd has taught me important lessons in responsibility, dedication, and perseverance while continuing to grow my passion for the livestock industry.
Throughout high school, I have stayed actively involved in extracurricular activities including National Honor Society, Student Council, FFA, FBLA, and 4-H, while also serving as the Fairbury class of 2026 president. One of my favorite parts of being involved has been holding leadership roles, mentoring younger members, and helping others grow and succeed both in agriculture and outside of it. I have also enjoyed showing livestock at the Jefferson County Fair over the years, creating friendships, memories, and experiences that will last a lifetime.
Outside of all my extracurriculars, I enjoy attending sporting events, spending time outdoors, creating memories with friends and family, and staying active within my community. Whether I’m helping on the farm, attending community events, or supporting
others, I love staying connected to the people and values that have shaped who I am today.
This fall, I will be attending Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Nebraska, where I plan to double major in Agribusiness and Livestock Production and Management. I am excited to continue pursuing my passion for agriculture and hope to make a positive impact on both the industry and the community that has given so much to me!! I would also like to sincerely thank the Washington County Saddle Club for awarding me this scholarship opportunity. Your generosity and support toward students pursuing their
passions and future goals is greatly appreciated. I am honored to receive this scholarship and thankful for organizations like yours that continue to support and invest in the next generation of agriculture and rural communities.
