This year’s Haunted Trail is coming October 15-17 and we’re looking to build an amazing volunteer team!

We’re looking for people who would enjoy:

👻 Scaring guests
🎟 Taking admissions
🚗 Parking
🔨 Set up
💪 Tear down
🚜 Hayrack ride help
🍂 General event support

Have you helped with our Haunted Trail before?

We’d LOVE to have your experience! Even if you can’t volunteer every night, we’d appreciate having you attend a couple planning meetings and help us make this year’s event even better.

Our first planning meeting is next week (week of August 17).

We’re excited to announce a NEW opportunity with Camp HERO in Kentucky to send ONE Iowa veteran on an unforgettable Early Season Archery Hunt this September!

🌲 September 4–8, 2026
📍 Camp HERO – McKee, Kentucky

The selected veteran will enjoy:
🏹 Archery hunting
🏡 Lodging at Camp HERO
🍽️ Meals provided during the hunt
❤️ Time to reconnect through the healing power of the outdoors

⚠️ Here’s the catch… We just received this opportunity, so registration will only be open for a short time!

🎯 One participant will be selected by drawing on August 21.

Eligibility
• Iowa veteran or active-duty military
• DD214 or military ID required
• Transportation to/from Kentucky is the participant’s responsibility

What an incredible day.

A heartfelt thank you to every participant, volunteer, sponsor, family member, and supporter who joined us for our very first Ruck for a Cause. Whether you walked one mile, completed the three or full five, carried a ruck, volunteered behind the scenes, or simply came out to cheer others on—you helped make today something truly special.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was seeing so many of you rucking in honor and memory of loved ones and fellow service members. Every step carried a story, and we’re honored you chose to share those stories with the HERO family.

We truly hope this is just the beginning. We’d love to make Ruck for a Cause an annual tradition that continues to bring our community together to honor, remember, and support our veterans and their families.

Every step carried a story. Some rucked in honor of those who continue to inspire them. Others carried the memory of loved ones who are no longer with us.

Thank you to everyone who chose to dedicate your ruck to someone special. Your stories are a powerful reminder of why we come together—to honor, remember, heal, and ensure that those who have served, and those we’ve lost, are never forgotten.
