Sometimes the greatest gifts aren't measured in dollars, but in compassion, encouragement, and time spent caring for others. This Sunday, may we look for opportunities to refresh the hearts of those around us. When we share God's love through acts of kindness, we often discover that our own hearts are renewed as well.

"A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." — Proverbs 11:25 ❤️

National Donut Day is almost here! 🍩 This year, on June 5, we’ll celebrate Donut Day across the nation.

Donut Day was created to honor the Salvation Army’s “Donut Lassies,” who served fresh donuts and support to soldiers during World War I.

Feeling inspired? Here’s the original WWI-style donut recipe to try for yourself:

Yield: approximately 12 donuts

Ingredients:
• 1 large egg
• 1 cup flour
• ½ cup sugar
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• pinch of salt
• ⅓ cup milk
• oil for frying

Directions:

Combine all ingredients (except the oil) to make the dough.
Thoroughly knead the dough, roll smooth, and cut into rings less than 1/4 inch thick. (Get creative—Salvation Army Donut Lassies used whatever they could find, from baking powder cans to coffee percolator tubes!)
Drop the rings into hot oil, turning slowly several times until golden brown.
Remove the donuts and allow excess oil to drip off.
Dust with powdered sugar, let cool, and enjoy!

If you give this historic recipe a try, tag us in your post—we’d love to see your creations! 🍩

Good afternoon Washington County unfortunately our volunteers were not able to come for our one to 3 o’clock shift today and we could put at the last minute for the Food Pantry and the Major‘s Bob and Karen Schmig are out of town and unfortunately only our office manager is there so we had to shut the Food Pantry down from 1 to 3 PM. We do have volunteers coming from the 3 to 5 shifts so unfortunately, please come for Food today at the Salvation Army from 1 to 3 PM we should be opened in our normal hours Tuesday tomorrow from 10 to 12 and 1 to 3. A Sunday reminder to stay rooted in what matters most. ❤️

In a world constantly telling us what to chase, Romans 12:2 calls us to something different—to be transformed by faith, renewed in mind, and grounded in God’s truth.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” — Romans 12:2

This Memorial Day weekend, as many pause to reflect, we’re reminded to trust God with both our purpose and our path ahead.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3

Wishing you a meaningful and restful weekend.
