Members heard about Veterans Way on June 11. The non-profit is building small homes in Union for homeless veterans to stay while they get settled and find a permanent place to live. The organization is led by board chairman Dan Mense and board vice chairman Tim Hays.

If you’ve never been to a Rotary meeting: at every meeting, we hold a marble pot drawing. We start with 19 marbles in a bag, and if the winning ticket holder draws the one black marble, they win the pot of money. Every week the black marble isn’t drawn, the pot grows.

At the June 11 meeting, only two marbles remained — one black, one non-black. Rotarian Curt Holzem had a 50/50 chance to pull the black marble and win the pot.

If he didn’t draw it, the June 18 meeting will have only the black marble left — guaranteeing a Rotarian wins $500+!
