In honor of OXI Day Month:
🇬🇷 On the, 12th of October 1944, Athens was liberated from N**i German occupation.
After 1,264 days of occupation, German forces withdrew from the Greek capital.
That morning, the N**i flag was lowered from the Acropolis, marking the end of the German presence in Athens.
Thousands of Athenians poured into the streets, waving Greek flags and celebrating a freedom they had waited more than three years to see.
The scenes around the Acropolis today are a reminder of a moment that remains deeply etched into modern Greek history.
12 October 1944. Athens was free. 🇬🇷
A day to remember those who endured, resisted and never stopped hoping for liberation.
