15 BEDS. A SCHOOL FULL OF HELPING HANDS. AND A WHOLE LOT OF HEART! ❤️🛏️

What an incredible day of giving back!

Our Sleep in Heavenly Peace Washington, IA chapter recently had the privilege of joining students and staff at Pekin Schools for their Community Service Day, and WOW, did they show up ready to make a difference!

Together, we built 15 beds that will soon provide 15 children in our communities with something every child deserves. A safe, comfortable bed to call their own. ❤️

From sanding and drilling to assembling bed frames, these students rolled up their sleeves, worked together, and showed us what community service is all about!

A HUGE thank you to Pekin Schools, the students, staff, and everyone who helped make this day such a success. Seeing young people give their time and energy to help other children is something pretty special.

We also want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Corteva for providing the grant that helped make this bed build possible. Generous community partners like you play such an important role in helping us continue our mission.

These weren’t just 15 beds built that day. They represent 15 children who will have a place of their very own to lay their heads at night.

And that is why we do what we do. ❤️

NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!

10/04/2026

What started with ONE bed in a garage has grown into 400,000 beds for kids across the country. ❤️

And right here in our own community, we get to be a small part of that incredible story.

Every bed we build, every volunteer who shows up, every business that donates, and every person who supports our chapter helps us make sure another child has a safe, comfortable place to sleep.

It really is one bed at a time. One child at a time. One community at a time.

We’re proud to be part of the Sleep in Heavenly Peace mission.

Because no kid should ever have to sleep on the floor.

🇺🇸🛠️🛏️ BUNKS ACROSS AMERICA 2026 IS IN THE BOOKS! 🛏️🛠️🇺🇸

This weekend, our little corner of Iowa was part of something MUCH bigger happening across the country. 🛌❤️

The Optimist Club of Washington, Iowa hosted our local Bunks Across America build, and 14 amazing volunteers showed up ready to work.

Our goal was 10 beds… and WE DID IT! 🙌

From measuring and cutting to sanding, assembling, branding and staining, these volunteers worked hard and paid attention to every detail. Because at the end of the day, these aren’t just pieces of lumber. These are beds that will soon give 10 children a safe, comfortable place of their own to sleep.

And knowing what was happening across the country at the very same time makes those 10 beds even more meaningful.

This was the 8th annual Bunks Across America, with communities from coast to coast coming together toward one incredible goal:

🛏️ 12,000 beds
🙌 15,000 volunteers
🇺🇸 250 communities

Final nationwide numbers are still rolling in, but here in Washington, Iowa, we are incredibly proud to say that our volunteers added 10 beds to that mission.

A heartfelt thank you to the Optimist Club of Washington, Iowa for hosting our build and helping make this day possible. ❤️🫶🏻

A huge thank you also goes to
Washington Lumber & Home Center for providing and delivering the lumber for our build. When local businesses and organizations step up to support our mission, they become part of every bed that eventually makes its way into the home of a child who needs one. We are so grateful for your support!

And to each of our 14 volunteers, THANK YOU. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for getting dusty. Thank you for working hard. Thank you for caring about the details. And most importantly, thank you for giving your time to children you may never meet, but whose lives you are helping change. ❤️

We also want to recognize Lowe’s, the founding partner of Bunks Across America, for helping power this nationwide effort and making it possible for SHP chapters across the country to continue building beds and building hope.

14 volunteers. 10 beds. One local community doing its part in a movement stretching from coast to coast. 🇺🇸🛏️

We couldn’t do what we do without the people, organizations and businesses who continue to show up beside us.

Because every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to lay their head at night.

🛏️💕 Two sisters. Two new beds. And two very excited smiles.

These sweet young ladies had been sharing a bed, but just before the start of the new school year, that changed.

They each received a bed of their very own. ❤️

And they didn’t just sit back and watch our SHP volunteers put everything together — they jumped right in to help!

From carrying supplies upstairs to putting pillowcases on their pillows, to helping unwrap their bedding, to holding the bed rails in place while our volunteers ran the drill, they were part of creating their own new sleeping spaces from beginning to end. 🥰

And judging by those smiles once everything was finished, we are pretty sure they were very excited about it.

Knowing these girls could head into a new school year with their own comfortable place to sleep at night is exactly why we do what we do. 💕

We’re incredibly thankful for every volunteer, donor, sponsor and community member who makes moments like this possible. Every bed we build eventually becomes someone’s bed and that’s what makes this mission so special.

Last weekend was one of those deliveries that reminds us exactly why we do what we do. 💙🛏️

We had the privilege of delivering beds to two young brothers, Thomas and Jasper and these two weren’t about to just stand back and watch! They came ready to work, complete with their own tools AND gloves, and helped our SHP crew put their new bunk beds together. 🛠️🛌🥰

The excitement on their faces when we arrived was something special. But seeing them finally climb into their finished beds, get under the covers and try them out? That was the part that was so good for our hearts.♥️

Mom was incredibly thankful, and so were the boys. But I think our volunteers walked away from this delivery feeling pretty grateful, too.

This is one of the many reasons we are so thankful to have a local Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapter serving families right here in our communities. And we’re just one piece of something much bigger. With 400+ SHP chapters across the United States and Canada and 19 chapters in Iowa, volunteers all over the country are working toward the same simple belief:

No kid should have to sleep on the floor.

Every build. Every volunteer. Every donated mattress, piece of bedding and dollar. Every bed delivered.

It all leads to moments like these two happy boys tucked into beds of their very own. 💙

No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town. 🛌❤️

💙 THIS is exciting! 🛏️

Sleep in Heavenly Peace just welcomed 21 NEW chapters into the SHP family! 🎉

That means 21 more communities joining the mission to make sure NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN® — and even more children will have a safe, comfortable bed to call their own.

It’s pretty incredible to think that our local chapter is one small part of a movement that now has over 400 chapters working toward the same goal. 💙

Welcome to all 21 new chapters! We can’t wait to see the difference you make in your communities.

More chapters. More volunteers. More beds. More kids sleeping where they belong. 🛏️💙

Some moments don’t need a lot of words.

These smiles say everything.

Tonight, these children will climb into beds of their own—a place that’s safe, comfortable, and truly theirs.

A bed is more than wood, a mattress, and bedding.
It’s comfort after a long day.
It’s a place to dream.
It’s a place to rest.
It’s a reminder that someone cared enough to show up.

These are the moments that remind us why the work of Sleep in Heavenly Peace matters. Something that may seem simple to many of us can mean absolutely everything to a child.

A huge thank you to the Keota SHP crew, every volunteer who gave their time, every donor who made these beds possible, and everyone who continues to support this mission.

Because every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to lay their head at night. ❤️

There are moments that remind you just how much good exists in the world.

These pictures show one of those moments.

Watching employees from a local businesses volunteer their time to help deliver beds to local children fills us with so much gratitude.

These individuals could have been anywhere else, but they chose to serve.

They chose to give back. They chose to make a difference. They chose to help a child have a bed to call their own.

To Washington State Bank and every staff member who helped with these deliveries, thank you. Your kindness and generosity are making an impact that reaches far beyond a single delivery.

We are incredibly thankful to be part of a community that comes together to ensure that no child sleeps on the floor.

💙 🛌 Together we are changing lives, one bed at a time.
