✨ Intern Spotlight: Katlyn ✨

We're excited to spotlight Katlyn, a Public Health student at East Carolina University concentrating in Community Health. 🎓

Katlyn spent her summer with BHPC as part of the SECU Public Fellows Internship Program and is now continuing her journey with us this fall for her ECU HHP internship. We're thrilled to have her back on the team!

As part of her internship, Katlyn is helping support community outreach efforts by assisting with the planning of events, programs, and initiatives that help strengthen our communities and connect individuals and families with valuable resources throughout Beaufort and Hyde Counties.

We're grateful to have Katlyn on our team and look forward to all she will accomplish this semester. 💙

The first day of preschool or pre-k is a BIG adventure full of new friends, cool discoveries, and so much fun! It's totally normal for kids (and parents 😉) to feel a few butterflies—here's how to make those first days awesome:

🗣️ Talk it up! Share all the fun ahead—new pals, playtime, art, story time, and exploring!

📚 Read books about starting school. Stories help little ones picture what's coming and feel ready!

⏰ Set bedtime and morning routines so your little one is well rested and prepared for a great day - Bath time, teeth brushing, story time at night; breakfast, dressing, teeth brushing in the morning.

🎒 Do a practice run! Try on the backpack, pick out clothes, and rehearse the morning like a dress rehearsal.

👋 Keep goodbyes quick & cheerful. A big hug, a bright smile, and "See you super soon!" goes a long way.

💛 Let them feel ALL the feelings. Some kids skip right in; others need extra snuggle time. Both are wonderful!

🎉 Celebrate! Snap a first-day photo, rock a favorite outfit, or start a fun tradition to make the day magical.

✅ Beaufort-Hyde Partnership for Children offers this free resource, Triple P Positive Parenting Program, which helps parents create safe and nurturing environments for their little ones.

✅ Whether families face challenges like temper tantrums, sleep issues, or other difficulties, Triple P equips them with tools to enhance communication, navigate emotional situations, and prepare children to manage life's ups and downs.

⭐️ Little learners, big discoveries! ⭐️

✅ Are you an early educator preparing your classroom for the upcoming school year or a parent or caregiver looking for fun and engaging learning opportunities for your children? Then, you’ll want to check out the Partnership’s Resource Libraries located in Beaufort and Hyde counties.

✅ Our Resource Libraries are full of educational resources (die cuts, lamination, bulletin board paper, etc.), as well as age appropriate toys, books and games designed to help families, caregivers and early childhood educators support learning through play, connection and curiosity. Free and paid memberships are available, and materials can be checked out for 2 weeks.

✅ The Beaufort County Resource Library is located at 979 Washington Square Mall in Washington and open Monday through Thursday from 8:30am-5pm.

✅ The Hyde County Resource Library is located at the Hyde-Davis Center at 33460 US Highway 264 in Engelhard and open Tuesday from 1-3pm and Thursday from 2:30-4:40pm.
