Great Deal on a Well-Cared-For Lawnmower!

Need a reliable mower without the "new mower" price tag? The Washington Historical Society has a great deal for you!

We are selling our Troy-Bilt TB380 ES Self-Propelled Mower. It has been well-maintained and has had very little use—after a handful of mows, a generous volunteer took over groundskeeping using their own equipment, so this one has been resting in our barn.

The Details:

Model: Troy-Bilt TB380 ES (21" deck)

Engine: 163cc Briggs & Stratton

Price: $150 (New models retail for ~$450)

Condition: Looks like new and runs great!

A Couple of Notes:

Manual Start: It starts reliably after just a couple of pulls.

Electric Start: The electric key-start feature will likely need a new battery to function.

Bag: We do not have the rear bag.

How to Purchase:
Interested? Comment below to arrange a time to meet us at the Barn Museum (100 Halfmoon Pond Rd, Washington, NH). First come, first served!

All Proceeds Go Towards Funding the Work of the Historical Society.

Have you been looking for a meaningful way to celebrate our country's Semiquincentennial this year? How about helping to save a unique piece of New Hampshire's rural history -- The District #5 Schoolhouse in East Washington, NH?

2026 is Washington's 250th anniversary too, and the Washington NH Historical Society is marking both occasions by undertaking a major renovation of our 177 year-old one room schoolhouse. It's the last of the 10 district schools that once educated the children of this beautiful rural NH hill town to still exist in it's original form. More than just a static museum, this little gem continues to offer unique opportunities for elementary school students of today to visit and learn about the history of both this state and this town.

There is a one-to-one match opportunity in play for the month of May, so donating today automatically doubles the value of your gift!

See the poster for details. Join us and help make a difference. I promise, it's going to make you feel really good!

Hello Friends and Neighbors,

Thanks to all of you who joined us last night. Erin Moulton's presentation about how to unlock the history of your house was a Big Hit! She provided solid guidance on how to approach your own research, and shared information about the many information resources available today. Erin kindly allowed us to record the program so that we could make it available to those of you who couldn't join us. You can get to it through the Events tab on our website (WNHHS.Org), or by clicking this link:

Remember that the Washington Historical Society is also a great resource for you if you want to know more about your Washington home or cottage. Each year we help many people discover the history of their homes and the past families that lived in them. We'd love to help you too! Getting started is easy -- send an email to us at [email protected], or visit our main museum at 100 Halfmoon Pond from 10-2 any Saturday from July through Labor Day.

Take care!

-Bill

Hello Friends and Neighbors!

We welcome everyone to join us for our upcoming Zoom event this coming Monday, March 9th, at 7:00 p.m..

In keeping with our effort this year to provide programming that celebrates the 250th anniversary of both Washington and our country, art historian Inez McDermot is going to present "Portraits of a Revolution."

Inez will explore American portraits painted and sculpted during the years leading up to, and the decades after, the Revolution. She will explain how the ideals, values and virtues expressly stated in our founding documents are easily identifiable in these portraits once we know how to “read” them. She will examine portraits of founding “fathers” and “mothers,” as well as of lesser-known individuals, as documents that can be read like texts. We hope you will join us!

Click on the Zoom link below or cut and paste it into your browser a few minutes before 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9th to join the meeting:
