Love, love, love it when our members spontaneously sit at the piano. Music makes everything better -especially clean up after cooking classes ;)

Due to ongoing state budget delays, our Title V Senior Employment Program has been paused until further notice.

For those unfamiliar, Title V is a vital program that supports economically disadvantaged seniors by offering them paid, hands-on training in modern workplace skills—from new phone systems to computer literacy. These individuals are more than just trainees—they are the heartbeat of our center.

From answering phones to maintaining the facility and assisting with programs, our receptionists, janitor, and program aides are all made possible through Title V. Without this incredible team, we are unable to operate at our usual capacity.

💔 As a result, all group based programming at the Beaufort County Association for the Blind will be temporarily paused until the program resumes.

We remain committed to serving our community and supporting our senior workers—and we’re hopeful the program will restart soon. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

Last week, we were notified that transportation funding through the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)—which supports most of our blind and visually impaired clients in getting to the Blind Center—has been exhausted for the current fiscal year.

This means that many of our participants who rely on these funds to attend programs, receive services, and stay connected may face temporary barriers in reaching the center.

We anticipate that funding will resume with the start of the new state fiscal year, and we are working closely with our partners to stay informed and ready to assist as soon as it becomes available again.

In the meantime, we remain committed to serving our community as best we can and exploring any alternatives available.

Thank you for your understanding, and please continue to advocate for accessible transportation and support for those who need it most.
