FAMILY FUTURES MISSION
*Every Rappahannock County student will graduate with a plan for the future, financial capability and resources, and academic and personal skills to pursue that plan confidently and successfully.
*Parents, caregivers, and other adults will have access to information and tools to develop their own financial skills. STRATEGIES
FamilyFutures graduates are financially capable an
d personally responsible. We achieve this goal by:
• establishing age-appropriate financial education targets for all public school students;
• engaging the students in financial education using MyFuture savings accounts for each student, that are seeded in kindergarten and grow as the student achieves benchmarks in financial learning;
• encouraging families to role model for their children, and achieve their own financial success, by providing information sessions, tools, and
• counseling on financial issues, as requested, for parents and other adults. GOALS
• Every Rappahannock public school student has a personal savings account.
• All students complete annual tasks to earn the maximum additional deposits.
• Financial and personal skill building activities are integrated into the school curriculum to support state mandates for college and career exploration.
• Students learn and demonstrate the value of setting goals and weighing choices that lead to lifelong success.
• Parents and other adults build their own financial and personal skills through home activities with their children and through workshops and individual coaching. HOW WE ACHIEVE THIS:
FamilyFutures uses private funds to seed accounts for public school kindergartners with $100 and then deposits up to $100 annually through graduation as students complete age-appropirate tasks that increase their financial knowledge and personal skills. We provide financial education for adults in workshops and in one-on-one coaching.
