💛 On World Polio Day, October 26, we recognize the incredible progress that has been made through vaccination, education, advocacy and decades of determination — while remembering that the work isn’t finished yet.

🌱 Sometimes the best reminder of why Rotary matters comes from the young people we support. 💙 At our last Washington Rotary Club meeting, we heard from a student we sponsored for RYLA who shared how the experience helped build confidence, create lasting friendships and find the courage to step outside their comfort zone.

✨ RYLA—Rotary Youth Leadership Awards—is a leadership experience where students develop communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills while learning about service and themselves. Utah’s four-day camp gives teens an opportunity to connect, grow and discover what they’re capable of.

🙌 Our club is looking for high school juniors and seniors interested in attending RYLA! Know a student who could benefit? Message me to learn more—you don’t have to be the loudest person in the room to have leadership potential.

💚 At our recent Rotary meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from Debi Barmonde with A Bolder Way Forward, a statewide initiative focused on helping Utah girls, women and families thrive.

🧠 Through research, community partnerships and local action, they’re tackling important issues including education, health and wellbeing, leadership, financial security and community engagement.

👩 Debi reminded us that there’s a place for everyone to help—whether through volunteering, partnering, donating, or simply getting more involved in our community.

🫂 That’s what Rotary is all about, too! ❤️ If you’ve ever wondered what Rotary does or how you can make a difference locally, we’d love to have you join us for lunch as our guest at one of our bi-monthly meetings. Come meet some great people and see how we’re working together to support Southern Utah!

🥹 Another great Rotary meeting filled with community connection, service, and a little well-deserved recognition! 💙 We were pleased to welcome Debi Barmonde, Five County Regional Coordinator, as our guest speaker. Debi shared more about the work being done through Five County and discussed “A Boulder Way Forward,” giving us a look at the efforts and resources helping strengthen communities throughout our region.

👏 We also heard from one of our Rotarians, Mike Lea, who shared his experience attending Switchpoint “Gather for Good” fundraiser and how he was able to support the important work being done for those experiencing homelessness in our community.

💰 We also took a moment to recognize our Rotarian Denton Zubke for his service as our club’s Treasurer; the time and effort he puts into keeping our club running smoothly.

🥰 Lastly, congratulations to our Rotarian Beverly Whipple, who was named Rotarian of the Month for constantly showing up for our club through service and her role as Public Image Chair!

🫂 We’re grateful for all of our members who give their time and talents to Rotary and our community. It’s a great reminder of what Service Above Self looks like in action. ❤️

🎉 A New Rotary Year Begins! 🎉

💚 The Washington City Rotary Club is excited to welcome Shelby Thorn as our 2026–2027 Club President! We look forward to another incredible year of service, fellowship and community impact under her leadership. 💙💛

As we celebrate new beginnings, we’d like to recognize and thank the dedicated leaders who help make our club successful. Thank you to Scott Florence for his service as Club Secretary, welcome to Marianne Parlin as our new Club Secretary. We also extend our appreciation to Denton Zubke for his continued service as Club Treasurer and to Beverly Whipple for helping tell our story and promote our mission as Public Image Chair. 🙏

🥗 A special thank you to Chef Nola for providing a wonderful meal for our installation event and to Washington City for allowing us to use the beautiful Heritage Hall for this special occasion.

⛳️ We’re also proud to announce that thanks to the incredible support of our community and participants in the Mayor’s Cup fundraiser, Washington City Rotary was able to donate $6,000 to Utah Food Bank to help fight hunger right here in Southern Utah. ❤️

Rotary is made up of people who want to make a difference. Through service projects, community partnerships and meaningful relationships, we work together to make our corner of the world a little better.
