With the economy being bad, so many that were struggling, are struggling even harder now. Kids are growing so fast. Threads is doing their best but we need help from our community. If you don't know much about us, we began in Washington over 17 years ago, to help those in need. We are located at 121 Zinser Place. We have clothing, shoes, housewares, linens, toys, books and tons of misc. items. If someone is financially stressed, EVERYTHING IS FREE!!! Sometimes a family may only need us once, or they may need us regularly, WE ARE HERE. We are open to the public 4 times each month. When a new shopper comes in, we require a photo ID and we register them so they can visit twice each month. It doesn't matter where you live. We give out the bags so everyone is getting equal amounts of merch. If the people have children, all we need is to see proof, such as med cards, ss cards or birth certif. We do not keep copies of that info. This is only needed 1 time for the children. Adults show their ID each time. Our system works perfectly and we have literally thousands of people in our registration books.
We are truly in need of donations currently, both financial and merchandise. As I stated, everything is free at the mission.
We always need mens, womens and kids clothing and shoes, in very good condition. We accept all seasons year round. We always need small appliances, small electronics, toys in great condition with all the parts, bedding, curtains, towels, blankets, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, jewelry, etc.... all in very good condition.
Clothing, t-shirts, underwear, shoes, coats, jackets, knick knacks, diapers, baby, kids and adults, and the list goes on and on. We also accept not perishables 'in date'. We can't accept refrigerable or frozen foods.
We also accept new toys, for all ages, year round for Christmas.
OUR BIGGEST NEED CURRENTLY is especially kids clothing. The top of that list is boys and girls, ages 4-18. Also, girls underpants sizes 10-18. Also, nice toys.
WE ACCEPT DONATION ON TUESDAYS 11-6. OUR STAFF IS ONLY ABLE TO BE HERE 1 DAY EACH WEEK. IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING AND THAT DAY DOES NOT WORK, CALL. WE WILL TRY TO ARRANGE HAVING SOMEONE MEET YOU THERE 309-303-0205
We can NOT accept strollers, car seats, cribs, etc. due to possible recalls. Our insurance will not cover them.
A SPECIAL SERVICE THAT WE HAVE... OUR EMERGENCY CENTER.
If a family looses their home due to fire or flood, or homeless needs, we can help. So many reasons. When people have special needs, we can help. We have new merchandise in this room to get people some of their urgent needs. We biggest need is diapers ALL SIZES! Diaper wipes, new bedding, new personal care items (razors, deodorants, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, brushes, tampons, pads, new towels/wash cloths, new kitchen towels, new small toys/games and BODYWASH. New shoes or like new shoes- tennis shoes, steel toe and non-slip, mens and womens. New bed pillows, crib sheets, baby blankets, personal care items for babies and preemie clothing. Mens and womens underwear of all sizes. Small flat screen TVs with controllers in good condition, small microwaves and small appliances in very good condition. Also, needed in the Emergency Center is toilet paper, paper towels and tissues.
If anyone has read this far, please consider helping this very busy mission. We survive on financial donations (tax deductible, we are a not for profit), and the need of merchandise, also tax deductible. This gives us the ability to help those in need in this struggle that we are all in.
We are open for drop offs Tuesdays 11-6.
If you save Walmart and Kroger bags, we can use them.
I post the mission schedule for those in need, regularly on this page. Google never keeps all of our dates correct.
