On August 20-21, 2024, Washington-Wilkes middle and high school students were able to participate in the Be Pro Be Proud Georgia Mobile Workshop Tour. Be Pro Be Proud is a workforce initiative that exposes students to high-paying, in-demand careers, many of which they can enter right after high school with little to no educational debt. The Be Pro Mobile Workshop is a custom-designed trailer equipped with hands-on simulators for commercial driving, forklift and heavy equipment operation, and welding, along with VR experiences for aviation, construction trades, diesel technology, and healthcare.

This experience was sponsored by Washington's Canfor Southern Pine. The Washington Canfor facility makes laminated wood beams and columns.

Our officers have been super busy planning the year this week and asked that we post a few things:
1. They’re wanting to host a truck/tractor show! If you have any contacts (we have a few) please send them our way we’d like to get a group together sometime in August to start planning this event for November!
2. One of our biggest costs for the year is snacks for practices and meetings. We’ve added a few assortment boxes to our Amazon list if anyone feels led to donate we can get you a receipt for claiming it on your taxes!

3. We look forward to seeing everyone this year and would love for all men who are able to join our male officers at 7am on August 5th at the Middle school to walk in with our boys organized by The Lion & The Hare. Washington,GA

Our officer team is still working hard this week as we prepare for next school year! This morning we partnered with Wilkes County, Georgia Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and Golden Harvest/ Mrs Elizabeth Wiley Bohler to give back to our community and hand out food boxes to those with kids under the age of 18 in their household! Thank you to Mr. Chris Townsend and Mrs. Becky Griffin for helping!

Join our guy officers on the first day of school at the middle school at 7AM!

UPDATE * rain or shine we are looking forward to seeing all of our Washington men tomorrow at 7am! Please come out and start the school year of right! We have only been in Washington a short time, but feel the love and support of this community. You don’t have to be family to show these kids support and love. If we look at statistics boys get sent to the office 4:1 to girls. We want the men of Washington to show up on the first day of school to bring them in with a smile and support. We want to show these students the town is behind them and will be there for them! We have lots of amazing people and we need you! These kids need you! We want EVERYONE! From our mayor Mayor Bruce Bailey, we want our city council members, blue collar workers, tradesmen, business owners, retired and any male willing to show support for these kids. 30 minutes of your day can change the outlook of our youths.
