๐Ÿ’™ Mental Health Tip: Ground Yourself in the Moment!

Did you know that approximately 1 in 5 children ages 3โ€“17 in the U.S. has a mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral disorder? (CDC)

Teaching coping skills early can help children learn to manage overwhelming emotions, stress, and anxiety.

The 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique is a simple tool that uses the five senses to help bring attention back to the present moment.

๐ŸŽ’ Whether itโ€™s tucked inside a bookbag, lunchbox, or kept nearby, a small reminder can make a big difference!

At Passages Counseling Services, we believe coping skills are most valuable when they can be practiced beyond the therapy room. ๐Ÿ’™

Bullying Is More Than Hurt Feelings. Itโ€™s a Mental Health Concern ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and at Passages Counseling Services, we want parents, educators, and communities to understand the emotional impact bullying can have on our youth.

๐Ÿ“Š Did you know?

According to the CDCโ€™s 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey:

๐Ÿ”น Approximately 1 in 5 high school students experienced bullying at school.

๐Ÿ”น 16% of high school students experienced electronic bullying, including through social media and texting.

Bullying can contribute to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, social withdrawal, and difficulty concentrating.

๐Ÿ“… Important Awareness Dates:

๐Ÿ’™ October 14 โ€“ National Stop Bullying Day

๐Ÿงก October 21 โ€“ Unity Day (Wear Orange!)

Parents, pay attention to changes in your childโ€™s behavior. Withdrawal, school avoidance, changes in mood, or unexplained physical complaints may be signs that something is wrong.

And remember, bullying doesnโ€™t always leave visible bruises. Sometimes the deepest wounds are emotional.

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก At Passages Counseling Services, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and supported ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก

Growing Together to Better Serve You!

At Passages Counseling Services, we believe quality mental health care is not about doing everything ourselves. Itโ€™s about building meaningful partnerships that help us better serve the individuals and families who trust us with their care.

We are excited to announce our partnership with 1st Response Psychiatry & Behavioral Health, PLLC!

Through this collaboration, we can help connect our clients with psychiatric evaluations and medication management services, complementing the counseling and behavioral health services already provided at Passages.

We understand that mental health and recovery journeys look different for everyone. Having access to the right combination of services can make a meaningful difference.

Our goal remains the same: reducing barriers, strengthening continuity of care, and helping individuals get the support they need.

Because better care happens when we work together!

Monday Motivation โ€ผ๏ธ

Fall is a beautiful reminder that change is a natural part of life.

But while we often admire the changing colors of the leaves, we sometimes struggle to accept change within ourselves.

Healing, much like the seasons, is a process.

There will be seasons of growth, seasons of uncertainty, seasons of letting go, and seasons of rebuilding.

Each one serves a purpose.

Remember: Progress isnโ€™t always about moving forward quickly. Sometimes itโ€™s about developing the strength, awareness, and emotional tools needed for the next chapter.

As you begin this new week, give yourself permission to grow at your own pace.

๐Ÿ Every season brings an opportunity for change.

๐Ÿ’š Mental Illness Awareness Week | October 4โ€“10, 2026 ๐Ÿ’š

Mental illness is not a character flaw, a lack of faith, or a sign of weakness.

It is a health concern that deserves understanding, compassion, and appropriate treatment.

Behind every diagnosis is a person with a story, strengths, struggles, and the potential for growth.

At Passages Counseling Services, we believe that healing begins when stigma ends and individuals feel safe enough to seek support.

This week, we encourage you to check on someone, listen without judgment, and remember that seeking help is a sign of strength.

๐Ÿ’š Awareness opens conversations. Compassion builds connections. Treatment creates opportunities for recovery.
