In memory of Brian Irwin a dedicated leader, advocate, and friend whose generosity and commitment left a lasting impact on the water well industry.

Through his service on the Water Systems Council Technical Committee, Brian helped shape the 13th Edition of the Water Systems Handbook, a cornerstone resource for our industry. He also faithfully served as Vice President of the Water Well Trust Board of Directors and dedicated countless years to advancing and protecting the groundwater industry alongside his late wife, Robin.

From Capitol Hill advocacy and WSC meetings to WWT fundraisers and volunteer efforts, Brian’s wisdom, compassion, and steadfast support touched so many within our WSC and WWT family.

The newly renamed Robin and Brian Irwin Sunshine Fund stands as a lasting tribute to their shared legacy and belief that access to safe water can transform lives. The fund will continue helping New Mexico families living without access to safe water.

North Carolina has updated its private well regulations.

House Bill 376 (Session Law 2026-32) includes several changes affecting the private well industry, including:

• More consistent statewide standards for private well regulation
• Expanded authority for certain licensed well contractors to perform well site evaluations
• Updates to onsite wastewater permitting
• Creation of a Drinking Water Well Task Force

Water Systems Council will continue providing trusted, unbiased education to help homeowners and industry professionals understand what these changes mean.
