IMPORTANT NOTICE OF SCHEDULED OUTAGE: WEDNESDAY, MAY 27TH!!

We have discussed in the Magazine the fact that we were going to need to plan an extensive outage in order to replace poles on the corner of Jackson Harbor Rd and Airport Rd. If you drive by you will see that the poles have been framed and with the exception of some anchor work, we are ready to do the replacement.

This will involve a significant outage that will include everyone on Jackson Harbor Road, everyone on roads north of Jackson Harbor including Airport, Gasoline Town, Washington Harbor, Green Tree, Swenson, Indian Point, Pedants, Old Indian Point, Old Camp and everyone on roads south of Jackson Harbor Road including Range Line to the Big Hill, the North Half of Mountain Rd, Sunrise and Wickman to Michigan Rd and Townline West to just past Blue Cloud Ln.

We estimate this outage is going to be at least 8 hours and we will be taking it on Wednesday May 27th. Currently the weather forecast for that day looks good and if that changes, we will send out a new notification.

We are trying to accomplish this work while it is still cool out and are recommending you do not open your refrigerator or freezer during this outage.

We apologize for this inconvenience and hope you understand that this planned outage is absolutely necessary to replace these poles. If these poles fail, the outage will be substantially worse, and damage could be worse, so we have to be proactive in making this change. Unfortunately, these two poles affect a large number of our members.

To repeat, we will be having a planned outage affecting the above-mentioned areas on Wednesday May 27th and that outage is likely to last at least 8 hours. Please prepare accordingly.

A Public Service Announcement

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1B8BX3WUGu/

After five really special years, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel Sol Grass Music Festival.

This wasn’t an easy call. Sol Grass has been a huge part of our lives, and we know it’s become a meaningful tradition for many of you too. We’re truly sorry for the lack of communication while we took the time to sit with this and figure out the right path forward.

Over the years, this became so much more than a festival. It took on a life of its own. We’ve watched it hold birthdays, marriage proposals, a wedding, tattoos, Sol Grass babies, and even become a place to remember and honor loved ones who are no longer with us. That is something we will never take for granted.

Sol Grass has always been produced and organized by us, Pat and Erin, through Backroads Events. At this time, we’re stepping back from event production. We want to be very clear about one thing. Washington Island Campground has been an incredible host, but they were not involved in running or organizing the festival. We simply rented the space, and this decision is entirely ours. They’ve been nothing but supportive partners, and we care deeply about making sure their reputation stays strong.

We also want to thank the Lions Club, Island Orchard Cider, Brian Flannigan, Washington Island Ferry, The Point Grille and Island Adventure Company, Jackson Harbor Soup Company, Door County Brewing, and all of our devoted friends and family for their support over the years. You’ve all been an important part of what made this event possible.

We know this weekend brings important business to the campground and the surrounding community. If you’re able, we’d really encourage you to keep your reservations and still make the trip. Kayla and Mike are amazing people who pour a lot into that place, and your support matters more than ever right now.

For those who purchased tickets, refunds will be issued in May. We are currently working through vendor settlements and appreciate your patience as we complete that process.

More than anything, we just want to say thank you. For showing up, for dancing, and for building something that felt real and connected. Sol Grass was never just an event. It was all of you.

We’ll carry that with us for a long time.

CLINIC IS OPEN (ish)
While there really is no parking yet, but there is a rough shoveled path to the door.
Please please please call us first. We would love to be able to address your needs without you going out. Many roads are still one lane and if we can keep the roads clear for crews to continue working that is ideal. We will get you in here if appropriate to do so, but we are here for you.
Thanks crew for you hard working clearing the way!

Public Service Message

Our crew will be heading to Boyer's Bluff next. We also have an outage on part of Indian Point Road and will be making our way there. We truly appreciate your patience through this storm clean-up. For most of our outages we have had to have our DPW Crew plow a path down the road and Tom Jordan plow a path into our members driveway to reach the downed wires. Our outage list is getting shorter and we hope to have everyone taken care as soon as we can. Crews from DPW, WIEC, Karcz Utility Services, and TBJ Corporation have put in long hours during this clean-up and we thank you for your understanding.

Tuesday Update #3:

We will be running our last trip of the day (4:00 Island/5:00 NP).
Our first trip took 1 hr 45 min one way but we were able to clear most of the heavy shoves blocking the Northport breakwall.

Tuesday 17th Update:

Our 12:00 noon trip is still a go. Ice conditions are an unknown at this point but we expect fairly tough conditions and longer crossing times.
Island dock and parking has been cleared but Northport parking lot will be a work in progress throughout the day.
Per the Door County Hwy Dept- Hwy 57 is the route to take currently as Hwy 42 is still closed in spots.
