A powerful day for Washington, DC! 🙌🏾🏡

Today, our CEO Cornelle Smith, had the honor of introducing the DC Faith-Based Legacy Challenge™ during the Ward 4 Senior Social Hub Kick-Off at Zion Baptist Church.

Our message was simple:
Homeownership is more than a property issue. It’s a family legacy issue.
Too many senior homeowners face property, financial, and legal challenges without knowing where to turn.

At Elevation Legacy Counseling, we believe our seniors should only have to tell their story once.
That’s why we launched the DC Faith-Based Legacy Challenge™—bringing together churches, government, nonprofits, businesses, sponsors, and community partners to help seniors preserve homeownership, protect generational wealth, and age in place with dignity.

A special thank you to Chairman David Saunders, Director Thelma Burless, Zion Baptist Church, and everyone who made this incredible event possible.
It was also an honor to stand with Mayor-elect Janeese Lewis George and Rev. Dr. Keith W. Byrd, Sr., President of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, as we look toward building stronger communities together.✨

Sometimes the biggest contribution isn’t a new program—it’s helping people navigate the ones that already exist.

On June 23rd, our CEO attended The Coalition’s discussion on “Preserving Homeownership and Assets Across Generations” at the Washington DC Economic Partnership. Hearing from leaders at LEDC, Rebuilding Together, Lydia’s House, and Legal Counsel for the Elderly made one thing clear: DC doesn’t lack housing resources. The real challenge for homeowners—especially older adults—is navigation. They often don't know where to start or who to trust.

That is exactly why we created Elevation Legacy Counseling.

We aren't here to duplicate the incredible work already happening across the District. Our vision is to be the trusted front door to DC’s housing preservation ecosystem. We help families build a personalized Housing Stabilization Roadmap™ and connect with the right resources at the right time.

That’s how we preserve homes, wealth, and legacies.

What an incredible day at the Genevieve N. Johnson Senior Center Annual Wellness Fair, Bazaar, and Fish Fry! 🐟✨

We had an amazing time connecting with the community, supporting local vendors, and sharing vital resources. The Elevation Legacy Counseling Program was proud to be on-site educating DC senior homeowners and their families. Our team shared valuable information on the many options available for making end-of-life decisions for their homes, ensuring these important assets stay within the community for generations to come.🏠❤️

We had an incredible time hosting the Elevation Legacy Counseling Orientation and Free Workshop on March 28th! Legacy and housing decisions can feel overwhelming without a clear roadmap. We loved connecting with senior homeowners and families in our community to provide that much-needed guidance.

During the session, we:
- Introduced our structured counseling process.
- Helped families pinpoint their exact housing challenges.
- Shared critical warning signs and common pitfalls.
- Outlined the exact financial documents needed.
- Prepared attendees for personalized next steps.

We showed up, spoke up, and stood up for our community. 🏠✨

On May 14th 2026, we had the distinct honor of participating in the 5th Annual Walter E. Fauntroy Jr. DC Legislative Day alongside the DC Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. It was a powerful day of connecting with DC Council members to address urgent community concerns.

We also introduced the Elevation Legacy Counseling Program!
We shared our vital mission to:
- Empowered our elders.
- Secured our family properties.
- Keep native Washington legacies thriving.

Through our specialized counseling services, we help native Washington property owners navigate complex end-of-life decisions. We took major steps toward keeping DC roots right where they belong.

Connecting with our community is at the heart of what we do! 🏠

This weekend, Elevation Legacy Counseling tabled at the DCHFA & DHCD Homeownership Fair at the MLK Jr. Memorial Library. Our CEO, Cornelle Smith, brought his two youngest children along to help us share our counseling services. We loved meeting local lenders, agents, and future homebuyers while diving deep into D.C.’s incredible homeownership programs! 📈🏢
