There are many issues in the House Committee Republicans' proposed FY 24 budget bill, but taken as a whole, the drafted plan seems like an outright attack on education.

After a long search, we are proud to announce that former Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza has been appointed as DFER's new Chief Executive Officer! Elorza undertook bold actions to advance a social and racial justice agenda:
✅ Invested $400 million into repairing school buildings.
✅ Supported the expansion of high-quality public charter schools.
✅ Created the city’s Eat, Play, Learn Initiative to expand out-of-school enrichment.
✅ Launched a nationally recognized African American Ambassador Group to bring Black leaders into the center of policymaking.
