On September 24, at Responsible AI & Safe Digital Spaces for Children in New York, an affiliate event of Digital@UNGA on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly, our Founder Bhuwan Ribhu highlighted India’s emerging leadership in strengthening accountability for children’s safety online.

India is moving toward direct local reporting of to law enforcement authorities. Bhuwan Ribhu emphasized that every social media intermediary, streaming service, AI platform, and technology platform engaging with children must be accountable to the law of the country in which it operates.

Through Jurists for Children Worldwide, this model will be advanced with partners across more than 50 countries through collaboration, campaigns, legal action, and policy reform.

As this standard is established in India, it can be replicated across the world.

From a child’s legal capacity to contract and the architectural accountability of platforms to Prevention by Design and mandatory reporting by intermediaries, these are not isolated issues. Together, they define how law, policy and technology must evolve to protect children in digital spaces.

The principle is clear: anticipate risk, prevent harm, and protect children before exploitation occurs.

Through Jurists for Children Worldwide, this approach will be taken to 50+ countries, working with partners through collaboration, campaigns, legal action, and policy reform.

A standard established in India can become a model for protecting children worldwide.

Following the United Nations General Assembly’s historic adoption of 27 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage, Just Rights for Children was honoured to host a reception in New York in recognition of the decisive leadership of H.E. Dr Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady of Sierra Leone.

The evening brought together Permanent Representatives, government representatives, leaders from across UN agencies, colleagues, partners and those who have supported the global call to end child marriage.

It was a moment to recognise the courage and political will that helped bring this issue to the world stage, as well as the collective resolve of those who have worked across institutions, countries and communities to make this historic moment possible.

We were deeply honoured to welcome those who have stood behind this call and to mark together not only what has been achieved, but also the responsibility that now lies ahead.

The world has a Day. Now that Day must become action.

Sharing these beautiful glimpses from a historic evening in New York, following the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage.

There are moments in history that bear the imprint of extraordinary leadership. This is one of them.

Over the past year, Just Rights for Children International has witnessed closely the courage, determination and moral clarity of H.E. Dr Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady of Sierra Leone. A fearless voice for girls. A formidable champion for children who did not simply support a cause, but carried it with conviction and brought the force of her leadership to the world stage.

We hold deep gratitude for Her Excellency’s belief, resolve and leadership in helping make this historic moment possible.

This Day will remain part of an enduring legacy of courage and political will in the service of children, and a reminder of what becomes possible when leaders choose to act.

With November 27 now established as the , the world has sent a clear message: child marriage can no longer be accepted as inevitable.

What began as a call led by our Founder, Bhuwan Ribhu, became a global movement through the collective resolve of Member States, governments, civil society organizations, child rights advocates, institutions, communities, and allies across the world.
We are grateful to the Member States that supported this landmark resolution and to every partner and ally whose leadership and sustained action helped turn a call into a global commitment.

This is the power of coalition leadership, uniting governments, institutions, civil society, and communities around a shared purpose: protecting every child and ensuring accountability for crimes against them.

Now, the International Day must translate recognition into decisive action, stronger accountability, effective implementation of laws, and coordinated global efforts to end child marriage.

The world has spoken with one voice: child marriage has no place in our future.

The mission is clear: a by 2030.

The world now has a dedicated day to act against child marriage.

We welcome November 27 as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage, a landmark step toward strengthening accountability and unified global action to end this crime.

Every child has the right to education, protection, and the freedom to realize their full potential.

This International Day must now translate global commitment into action, through strong laws, decisive government leadership, prevention for children at risk, protection for survivors, and accountability for those responsible.

As our Founder, Bhuwan Ribhu, said following the adoption, this marks a tipping point. The task ahead is clear: governments, civil society, communities, and institutions must work together to end child marriage by 2030.

A day for accountability. A day for unified action. A day to accelerate the end of child marriage.
