What a great few days in North Carolina! 🦃

There’s something special about getting together with the people who make this industry strong. NTF President and CEO Leslee Oden had the opportunity to join the North Carolina Poultry Federation’s Annual Meeting, spend time with members, celebrate the industry’s accomplishments, and talk about what’s ahead for U.S. turkey.

North Carolina is a powerhouse when it comes to turkey production — ranking No. 2 in the nation and producing more than 1 billion pounds of turkey in 2025. 🦃

Sampson County leads the state in turkey production, followed by Wayne and Duplin counties, highlighting just how important North Carolina’s farmers and communities are to our industry.

As we look ahead, NTF is working alongside producers and industry partners on the issues that matter most, from finding new solutions to HPAI and strengthening biosecurity to supporting the agricultural workforce, investing in research, and opening new markets for American-grown turkey.

A huge thank you to Summer Lanier, Valerie Sherman, the entire North Carolina Poultry Federation team, and all of our members for a great meeting and for everything you do every day to keep this industry moving forward.

And congratulations to Art Lankford of Butterball on being elected President of NCPF for the coming year! 👏

How can the U.S. and Germany work together to protect animal health and welfare in poultry and swine production?

NTF Chairwoman Christy Puffenbarger joined an Aspen Institute Germany webinar today, to help answer that question and share how the U.S. turkey industry is putting animal welfare into practice.

On the panel, Christy discussed her work with turkey producers and integrators - including animal welfare education and training, and highlighted technology that helps producers better monitor animal behavior and activity as an important opportunity to improve welfare.

Her message: animal welfare, disease prevention, farm management and a strong agricultural economy go hand in hand.

A productive day of advocacy in Washington. 🇺🇸🦃

Yesterday, NTF met with Members of Congress and administration officials to discuss key policy priorities impacting America's turkey producers and processors.

Our conversations focused on addressing animal health challenges, expanding trade access for U.S. turkey products, advancing a strong Farm Bill, and improving agricultural labor availability. These issues are critical to the continued success and growth of the turkey industry.

We appreciate the opportunity to share our members' perspectives and will continue advocating for policies that support turkey farmers, strengthen rural communities, and keep America’s agricultural economy moving forward.

Great conversations at Minnesota’s Farmfest!

NTF joined Minnesota Turkey to discuss some of the most important issues facing turkey farmers and processors today. During meetings with policymakers and industry leaders, we emphasized the need for tariff-rate quota (TRQ) parity for U.S. turkey products under USMCA, the development of a practical HPAI vaccine framework that protects both animal health and trade, and solutions to ongoing agricultural labor challenges.

We appreciate the opportunity to advocate for policies that support the people who raise, process, and provide turkey products across the country.

NTF was honored to attend Monday’s Ag 250 Celebration at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, commemorating 250 years of American agriculture. 🦃🇺🇸

This special event brought together agricultural leaders from across the country to reflect on the rich history of U.S. agriculture and recognize the people who continue to drive it forward.

As representatives of the U.S. turkey industry, we are proud to celebrate the farmers, processors, and industry partners whose hard work and commitment help feed millions of families each year. Their dedication is an important part of America’s agricultural story—past, present, and future.
