💛A New Cohort, A New Opportunity to Grow!
We’re excited to welcome Cohort 7 of the Community CAREgiver Collective (CCC) at Horton’s Kids! 🎉
CCC is more than a parenting class. It’s a space where parents and caregivers come together to build community, strengthen parenting skills, share experiences, and learn tools to support themselves and their families.
Through meaningful conversations, hands-on learning, and community partnerships, our caregivers are building confidence, strengthening family relationships, and becoming powerful advocates for their children.
✨ Cohort 7 kicks off this Thursday, October 15th!

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to volunteers from Artemis Real Estate Partners for packing 200 bags filled with essential supplies and food for Anacostia youth and families. 
 
Just a few hours of service though our Pack-It-Forward program can create a big impact, and the best part is that we come to you! Want to hold a Pack-It-Forward at your workplace?
 
Here’s how it works: Your team purchases essential items from our curated list—groceries, health supplies, and hygiene products—for approximately 150 family bags (around $5,000 total). Then, we bring Horton’s Kids to your office! Our team delivers a presentation about our mission and impact, and your employees roll up their sleeves to pack bags alongside us. It’s hands-on service that directly supports families in Southeast DC—and a powerful team-building experience for your company.
 
Don’t have the space? That’s alright! We can also hold Pack-It-Forwards here at our headquarters in Anacostia.

We did it! At our 18th annual Home Runs, we raised more than $725,000 for youth and families in Anacostia —surpassing our goal! 

Every dollar raised will immediately be invested in Horton’s Kids’ holistic programming—tutoring, mentoring, food security, mental health and family support, and college and career readiness. With your support, we will continue building bright futures for the 700+ children and families we serve. 
 
Nationals Park belonged to our community on Saturday, with more than 1,100 guests enjoying the ballpark all to themselves. They took swings from home plate, played catch in the outfield, pitched in the bullpen, and raced Teddy. It was a night of joy and celebration!

This past Saturday we got together with our HK Families at Fort Stanton Park for our annual Family Picnic!

From flag football and line dancing to ice cream and fried fish, kids and caregivers joined us for a super fun afternoon and didn’t let the rain get us down!
