The International Tiger Coalition was a powerful alliance of 38 organizations representing more than 100 groups across the globe, united under the common aim of helping to bring back wild tigers by stopping trade in tiger parts and products from all sources. This unprecedented coalition from the conservation, zoo, animal welfare, traditional Chinese medicine and responsible-tourism communities cam

e together to speak with one voice in calling for an end to trade in tiger parts and products through better enforcement and awareness of existing tiger trade bans. The International Tiger Coalition is not active today but this page still represents the core mission of fighting to end tiger trade.

Friday food for thought: "Once you panic, you stop thinking. Once you stop thinking, you start dying."
There is nothing like being out in the wild--especially in tiger territory--to remind humans of our place in the natural world.
The key is to stay calm, even as night falls on the Sunderbans and you know tigers are out on the hunt.

This page explores why despite high levels of conflict in the Sundarbans between man and tiger, there is not only a tradition of fearful respect and acceptance of these man-killers but also an increasing scientific understanding of why the tigers are needed.
