Courtney's House provides recovery services for male, female, and transgender survivors of s*x trafficking ages 12 to 21. We work with law enforcement to find and recover survivors from their trafficking situations. We work to educate the public and we have trained law enforcement personnel, nurses, hotel employees, teachers, high school classes, church groups, and many others on recognizing the s
igns of s*x trafficking. Courtney's House was founded in 2008 by Tina Frundt, a survivor of domestic minor s*x trafficking. Her goal is to provide others with the services that could have helped her. We don't use the word "victim" (unless we're talking about the law). We prefer the word "survivor", since every one being trafficked is surviving out there every day. We also won't use the term "child pr******te", as it implies agency and children don't have the legal agency to engage in s*x work. We don't "rescue" people, because as Tina says, "you can rescue a body, but you have to transition a mind." Courtney's House is based in Washington, DC, but we have clients in Maryland and Virginia, and we have provided training in many states, most recently New York and Iowa.
