Ask a Conservator Day is November 4, 2026!

This year's theme is "Past and Present," looking back on the 60 years since the Florence Flood and giving conservators an opportunity to reflect on their personal path to conservation and where they are today.

We hope folks will share stories about their early career days, mentors who made the difference, those photos as a kid in museums that hinted at the future, and more!

We're thrilled to share this announcement from our colleagues at the Art Preservation Fund:

Applications are now open for Art Preservation Fund's inaugural grant cycle.

Grants will support the interventive conservation treatment of art and heritage
items held in nonprofit collections across the US via two funding tracks:
Track A for applicants who already have a treatment proposal and are ready to proceed (up to $25,000), and Track B for those who need an expert to define scope and cost before treatment (up to $5,000).

Applications must be submitted through the web form by October 30, 2026 at
8pm EDT.

Nonprofits interested in applying are encouraged to attend the Art Preservation
Fund's online info session on October 6th at 2pm EDT.

The Call for Papers for the Pressure Sensitive Tapes: Manufacture, Deterioration, and Evolving Approaches to Treatment symposium is open until October 1, 2026.

The program will take place on October 4-5, 2027, at the Indiana State Library, followed by an optional workshop and tours on October 6. The symposium will be recorded, and post-prints will be produced following the event.
