AAPI Heritage Month Spotlight: Rachna Hourt
This May, as we honor AAPI Heritage Month, Iโm proud to spotlight a student whose story reflects the resilience, brilliance, and quiet leadership found across our Cambodian communities.
Rachna is a grade 12 student and class president who leads with humility, discipline, and a deep sense of responsibility to those around her. She loves Math, English, and computer skills โ subjects she sees as the foundation for her dream of attending medical school and one day supporting her parents.
Before KKF arrived, Rachna had never touched a computer. Her school had no digital equipment and no expectation that technology would ever reach their rural classrooms. But when access finally came, she stepped into it with courage and curiosity.
Today, she studies with more confidence, dreams with more clarity, and sees a future that once felt out of reach.
During AAPI Heritage Month, we celebrate stories like hers โ stories shaped by perseverance, family, and the belief that opportunity should not depend on where a child is born.
Rachna reminds us why KKF does this work. When we invest in one student, we strengthen the future of our global AAPI community and the world.
