Honor Procession - In honor of PA state police officer and WC firefighter Timothy O'Connor, some streets in the north western part of our borough will be closed starting at 2 PM Tuesday. I know I for one will be standing on the sidewalk to pay tribute to our fallen hero as he leaves the DellaVecchia funeral home on N. Church St for formal services in Downingtown. Travel Delay Announcement - March 17-18, 2026
Please see the official announcement from the PA State Police of road closures and travel delays expected on Tuesday March 17 and Wednesday March 18 due to the services for Corporal Timothy J. O’Connor Jr., who lost his life in the line of duty on Sunday, March 8.
The following roads will be closed starting at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, for an es**rt procession to St. Joseph Parish, located at 338 Manor Ave., where funeral services will be held:
• North Church St. at West Biddle St., West Chester Borough
• Manor Ave., in the area of St. Joseph Parish, Downingtown Borough
It should be noted that North Church St, in front of DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith, & Boyd Funeral Home, will be closed for two hours before the es**rt procession.
The roadways will reopen after the procession passes.
The following roads will be closed on Wednesday, March 18, for the funeral service and procession:
• Manor Ave. (SR 322) between Rock Raymond Rd. & East Pennsylvania Ave., 6:00 a.m. until approximately 3:00 p.m.
• All ramps from SR 30 bypass to Manor Ave. (SR 322) starting at approximately 11:00 a.m.
• Manor Rd. (SR 82) between Horseshoe Pike & Culbertson Run Rd. starting at approximately 1:00 p.m.
• Rolling closures of Horseshoe Pike (SR 322) between Lancaster Ave. and Manor Rd. (SR 82) beginning at approximately 1:00 p.m.
There will be a heavy volume of traffic in the area, along with delays throughout the day. Area residents, businesses, local school districts, as well as additional emergency-response agencies in the area, are asked to plan accordingly.
