As the Director of Partnerships & Development for The Current Event, Tirzah is passionate about creating connections that open doors, amplify stories, and bring more people into the work of building stronger communities.

We are officially launching the Supply & Demand fundraising campaign! This year, The Current Event is doubling down on our core mission: removing barriers to education. We are focusing all our energy on raising funds to provide over 100 fully loaded classroom kits and clear backpacks to local students and teachers for the 2026-2027 school year.

Her work helps amplify voices, strengthen partnerships, and bring greater visibility to the causes and communities The Current Event supports.

Michaella Brooks is a creative strategist, spoken word artist, entrepreneur, and systems-builder who believes great ideas deserve strong foundations.

As CFO of The Current Event, she oversees financial operations, grant management, and compliance—ensuring our mission and resources work together to maximize community impact. Her work behind the scenes helps create the structure that allows our programs and initiatives to thrive.

Based in the Maryland/DC area, Michaella is also a voiceover artist, operations consultant, and multidisciplinary creative. Currently pursuing a degree in cybersecurity and information assurance, she brings together analytical thinking, artistic expression, and operational excellence in everything she does.

A performer, a polyglot, and a builder of things meant to last, Michaella embodies the balance of creativity and strategy that drives meaningful change.
