All Women Marines -- active duty, reserve, veterans & retirees -- are welcome to join us. Chapter Name: District of Columbia Chapter One
Co-Host: Virginia Chapter One

It is with excitement that DC-1 and VA-1 submit a proposal to host the 2018 Women Marines Association (WMA) Biennial Convention and Professional Development Conference in the capital of the United States and birth place of the fir

st WMA Chapter - in Washington, DC. Washington, DC is the perfect location to celebrate the 100th anniversary (or Centennial) of women in the Marine Corps. With the signing of the Residence Act on July 16, 1790, it approved the creation of a capital district located along the Potomac River on the country's East Coast. As permitted by the U.S. Constitution, the District is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Congress and is therefore not a part of any U.S. state. DC-1 and VA-1 await the opportunity to celebrate our Centennial in an area that has something for everyone to enjoy. Being in close proximity of military installations, we have access to logistical support assistance in making your trip a memorable one to reflect on the past, present, and future. Come enjoy an evening Parade at 8th and I with the Presidents Own Band, a trip to The Marine Corps War Memorial and a trip to the National Museum of the Marine Corps. This is the home of the only Women’s Memorial that celebrates women from each of the services at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial (WIMSA) at the gates of Arlington Cemetery. We have the Crossroads of the Marine Corps and most Marine Corps History within our reach. We are proposing The Marriott Gateway in Crystal City, Virginia where the 2000 convention was held. This facility provides complimentary shuttle transportation to/from Washington, DC’s Ronald Reagan National Airport. Public transportation via metro is onsite for exploring the city without worrying about parking and parking fees. Access to military bases: Marine Corps Base Quantico, Joint Base Henderson Hall/Fort Meyer, Fort Belvoir, Joint Base Anacostia/Bolling and Andrews Air Force Base

The theme of the convention will be Celebrating 100 Years of Women in the Marine Corps. We are working on celebrating this Centennial in the city where it all happens for the United States of America – our capital, Washington, DC.

May the 4th Be With You 🇺🇸⭐️

Today, we honor the legacy of the 4th Recruit Training Battalion—a unit that shaped generations of strong, resilient women Marines. Though officially deactivated on June 15, 2023, its impact continues to live on in every Marine it helped forge.

The 4th RTBn wasn’t just a battalion—it was a sisterhood, a proving ground, and a legacy of strength, discipline, and unwavering commitment.

On this May 4th, we celebrate that legacy and the women who carried it forward with pride.
