Kate Elkins, AAUW Carlisle President, represented AAUW Pennsylvania at the June 24, 2024, press conference at the Pennsylvania Capitol, encouraging the passage of The Family Care Act this week in both chambers. HB181 and SB580 are out of committee and may go to the floor for a vote. This is the closest this critical legislation for Pennsylvania families has ever been to passing both chambers. Kate was one of sixteen speakers (4 Representatives, 3 Senators, 9 supporting organizations) invited by the Maternity Care Coalition and Pennsylvania Women’s Health Caucus.
