“The greatest tragedy of life is to go through life and not feel anything.”

If we don’t experience the joy, the beauty, the pain, the whole spectrum of being human, how are we different from machines?

Multidisciplinary artist and researcher believes the body stores memories it has never resolved, and that meeting our own eyes in an image made at a moment of emotional intensity can open a doorway back to them. In an age of multiplying images and arriving avatars, she asks what it takes to truly recognize, and return to, ourselves.

🌿 Our garden tour with Emily continues — unique trees, hidden statues, and quiet corners waiting to be found. Next up: a vintage sundial!

Dating back to at least the early 1900s (possibly even the late 1800s), this piece has stood in Evermay’s garden for over a century. Look closely and you’ll find the Green Man carved into the pedestal — an ancient symbol of the natural world and the cycle of life.

On Tuesday, September 29th, educator and contemplative practitioner Mercedes Laney hosts a live inquiry into attention itself: what shifts it, what steals it, and what it takes to reclaim it, both individually and collectively.

Join us for this interactive panel + participatory research session, where your reflections become part of Mercedes' ongoing work on "attentional literacy," a trainable skill for navigating systems built to compete for our focus.
