Project Free Burma

Project Free Burma dedicated to improving healthcare and sanitation for Burmese diaspora populations.

Founded in 2009, Project Free Burma is a student run initiative affiliated with the Rustic Pathways Foundation. The project promotes awareness of human rights abuses and ethnic cleansing in eastern Burma (Myanmar) through documentary photography and interviews. It also fundraises to improve the healthcare and livelihoods of refugees along the Thai-Burmese border. In the past, Project Free Burma ha

s worked alongside U2, Facing History and Ourselves, and Malteser International. The initiative raised $5,800 to improve the secondary and tertiary healthcare at the Mae Ra Ma Luang Refugee camp, and produced 3 awareness documentaries.
