Excited for this new Village Square in the heart of Cleveland Park - located directly in front of the Cleveland Park Metro!

Executive Director Frank Finamore says the space will be open Monday through Friday, from 9am until 5pm, and community members are invited to stop in and enjoy the new "community living room." He also notes that for special events, such as the new movie night and Cleveland Park Day, it will stay open later in the evening or on weekends.

Congratulations to the team at Cleveland & Woodley Park Village on this beautiful new space.

It was great to show our new Village Square to The Washington Home and DC Department of Aging and Community Living! Such a great afternoon figuring out new ways to honor and support DC’s older adults.

🌺 A lovely afternoon visiting our partners at Jubilee Housing - one of the organizations in our new collaborative grant for Ward 1 - the Connected Care & Aging Network (C-CAN).

The grant supports our mission by providing options for older adults to age in place by connecting older-adult affordable housing with community-based programming.

Jubilee Housing offers individualized service coordination, health and wellness supports, food access, transportation, digital literacy, and community programming through strong local partnerships to help older adults age in place and reduce social isolation. ☕

🎨 Story Tapestries is also part of the collaboration and will deliver four culturally responsive, art-based workshops at Jubilee Housing to support memory, mental health, and social connection among older adults in permanent supportive housing.

What an unforgettable evening celebrating the return of the Lisner-Louise-Dickson-Hurt Home Garden Party! 🌿✨

After years of renovation, renewal, and resilience following devastating flood damage, it was inspiring to see residents, families, supporters, and community partners come together once again to celebrate this extraordinary community and its beautiful reopening.

Guests toured the newly restored assisted living residences, enjoyed resident art displays, connected with staff and residents, and experienced firsthand the warmth, dignity, and sense of belonging that make Lisner so special. We were also honored to celebrate Sue Hargreaves, recipient of the Laura Lisner Award, recognizing her remarkable 35 years of leadership and service to older adults in Washington, DC. Congratulations, Sue! 🎉

The Washington Home is proud to sponsor and support Lisner’s incredible restoration journey and ongoing commitment to providing compassionate care and vibrant community for older adults across Washington, DC. Kudos to the entire Lisner team on such a meaningful and joyful celebration! 💚

We’re excited to announce that The Washington Home is investing more than $704K in a bold new HEALTHY FOOD ACCESS COLLABORATION to help older adults across Washington, DC access nutritious food and coordinated support services. 🍎💙

This citywide initiative brings together 11 incredible community partners to create a stronger, more connected network of food access, grocery delivery, transportation, nutrition support, and wraparound care for older adults in all 8 DC Wards.

“Too often older adults and caregivers are forced to navigate multiple systems during some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. This collaboration is about creating a connected support system where organizations are working together to meet the needs of older adults.” - Crystal Carr Townsend, CEO, The Washington Home

We were proud to have our CEO, Crystal Carr Townsend, join the panel “Turning Insight into Action - A Leadership Dialogue,” moderated by NBC Washington’s Jim Handly, alongside an outstanding group of changemakers:

-Charon P.W. Hines, Executive Director, DC Department of Aging and Community Living
-Radha Muthiah, CEO, Capital Area Food Bank
-David Poms, Manager, Government Affairs & Policy, DC Primary Care Association - DCPCA

☀ A major highlight of the day was the launch of The Washington Home’s new Healthy Food Access Collaborative - a $704,000 investment supporting a citywide initiative uniting 11 partners to tackle food insecurity through coordinated, wraparound support for older adults in our community.

We were honored to join community leaders, advocates, and partners at Miriam's Kitchen's Annual Celebration at Hook Hall - an inspiring evening dedicated to advancing the mission to end homelessness in Washington, DC. 💙

The Washington Home is proud to support Miriam’s Kitchen through both grant funding and event sponsorship, helping expand critical services for unhoused older adults across the city.

Our partnership supports medical respite and community dining opportunities, as well as Miriam’s Kitchen’s new program serving medically frail, older adult women at the E Street Bridge Housing Site, which opened in September 2025. This innovative program is creating safe, supportive housing and wraparound care for older adults with complex health, mobility, and comfort needs.

We are grateful to stand alongside an organization that leads with compassion, dignity, and action - and to celebrate the incredible impact being made every day for Washingtonians experiencing homelessness.

Thank you, Miriam’s Kitchen, for your unwavering commitment to our community. ✨
