President Trump announced his full 2021 budget proposal calling for the elimination of all federal funding for afterschool and summer learning programs serving children in need. Without this funding, nearly two million children and families would be left without reliable afterschool choices.

Locally, the current budget allocation for DC is $6,123,000. However, under President Trump's FY2021 Budget it will be $0. Our friends at the Afterschool Alliance have made it very easy to call on Congress to protect funding for afterschool and summer learning programs. Let's use our collective voice and tell Congress “no cuts for afterschool programs!” https://afterschoolalliance.rallycongress.net/ctas/trump-says-eliminate-afterschool

We are excited to announce that Mentors, Inc. @ Kid Power protege, Tyonna, has been accepted into LearnServe International Summer Program to Zambia. This program allows students to work alongside community leaders and social entrepreneurs, to deepen their understanding of Zambian solutions to global issues. A junior at Washington Leadership Academy, Tyonna, has been matched with her mentor for one year and we're so proud of how far she's come!

Amazing! Let’s keep going!!

WOW!! Our goal was to raise $4K in 24hours and we are thrilled to announce we surpassed our original goal with $4,580! Everyday we ask our students to aim high. Today, we will do the same and move the goalposts to $6K to support future mentor matches!! Join Us!!

MENTOR MATCH: Warren, a Friendship Collegiate Academy graduate. His mentor Chris shared, "My mentoring experience has been amazing from the beginning because Warren is such a genuine person. When he develops relationships he truly cares about you and it shows. He’s extremely supportive of his family and it’s been great to see his maturity develop as he’s transitioned from being a senior to post-graduation. Most importantly, we’ve developed a relationship where I offer my perspective and experience, but at the end of the day we’re true friends. We see a lot in each other and grow together better because of it."
