The Lactation Lounge is next week. Have you already reserved your spot?

Lactation Lounge is a newer member benefit, and many people don't yet know about it.

Lactation Lounge is a community initiative designed to help USLCA members like you connect in a live and unrecorded conversation. Each session is hosted by Nicole Longmire, IBCLC, PMH-C, USLCA's Professional Development Coordinator.

This quarter's theme is Lactation Leadership. This month's prompt: What does integrity look like in messy, real-world situations?

Because integrity in lactation care isn't just about evidence-based practice. It's about what you do when no one's grading you, when it's easier to stay quiet, when the honest answer costs you something, or when your ego wants the last word.

Spots are limited. Reserve yours here: https://uslca.org/uslca-event-calendar/ #!event/2026/5/27/lactation-lounge

A longer NICU stay doesn't just affect the baby. What's it doing to the parent, and to breastfeeding?

Join T'Errah Jessup, IBCLC, on Wednesday, July 29th at 10 AM ET for a deep dive into the prevalence of maternal mental health issues among NICU dyads and their connection to length of stay and severity of illness.

In this webinar, you'll learn:

✔️ How lactation consultants can perform perinatal mental health screenings while remaining in scope of practice

✔️ The role frequent and effective PMAD screenings play in breastfeeding duration

✔️ Resources available to NICU dyads who need advanced mental health provider assistance

✔️ Where to find resources for lactation consultants looking to deepen their knowledge of PMADs

With over 5 years in the field, including 3+ years as a designated NICU IBCLC. T'Errah brings hands-on experience in interdisciplinary care, breastfeeding education, and removing barriers for NICU families.

Designed for lactation professionals ready to expand their impact beyond the latch.

In Part 2 on June 25th from 1- 2 pm, join Dr. Emily Little, PhD, who will focus this time on bringing babywearing guidance into your clinical work. In this session, you’ll learn:

- The most common babywearing safety risks and a structured framework for addressing them
- Trauma-informed strategies that keep carrying instruction supportive, not prescriptive
- How to fit babywearing education into time-limited clinical workflows and busy community programs

About the Presenter: Dr. Emily Little is a developmental scientist, perinatal health researcher, and founder of Nurturely, a nonprofit focused on eliminating racial and structural inequities in perinatal health. Her research centers on how parent–infant physical contact shapes breastfeeding, maternal mental health, and early development. International Nurses Day is celebrated worldwide every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, became a household name while serving as a nurse manager and trainer during the Crimean War. She organized to care for wounded soldiers at Constantinople.

This year's theme is “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” which highlights the connection between supporting nurses and improving health outcomes, and calls attention to the role that investment in the profession plays in building stronger healthcare systems.
