Mother Dear's Community Center is a 501 c 3 non-profit and faith-based organization that was founded by the late Rev. Annie M. Woodridge (Mother Dear) in 1954 as a grassroot. The Center was incorporated in 1977 and have served the Washington metropolitan area for 6 decades providing viable services and programs over the years to the community, other states and abroad. Today, the center operates on a voluntary basis by her two daughter who provides limited services to thousands of residences in the Washington area. Mother Dear provides a summer camp recreational program to at-risk youth and economically disadvantage children, Thanksgiving turkeys to needy families and Holiday meals which are delivered to homebound seniors and the homeless on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
Although services are limited, the center remains faithful to the work started by their mother, the late Rev. Annie M. Woodridge, Mother Dear and lives by Mother Dear’s motto: Destiny makes us brothers. If you lift somebody up as you go up, we’ll all rise together.” We stand by Mother Dear’s motto and strive to make a difference in the lives of those we serve by showing the love of God in everything we do. With the help of volunteers, we are able to meet the needs of those we serve.
