Vaccinate Your Family (VYF) is a national nonprofit organization founded in 1991 by Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and Former First Lady of Arkansas Betty Bumpers. Our mission is to protect people of all ages from vaccine-preventable diseases by raising awareness of the critical need for timely immunizations, increasing the public’s understanding of the benefits of vaccines, increasing confidence in the safety of vaccines, ensuring that all families have access to lifesaving vaccines, and advocating for policies that support timely vaccination. Last week marked the five year anniversary of Teresa's passing from COVID-19. At just 10 years old, Teresa was healthy and enjoying girl scouts when COVID-19 took her life.

Teresa was never considered high-risk for COVID-19, and she never got the chance to be vaccinated. Vaccines against COVID-19 were approved for children just a few weeks after her passing.

In Teresa's memory, her mother, Nicole, encourages people to get vaccinated to prevent the same heartache for other families.

In Nicole's words, "A parent should never have to bury a child from a disease that was vaccine-preventable."
