National Council of Nonprofits

National Council of Nonprofits We’re the largest network of nonprofits in North America, creating a connected and powerful nonprofit community that is equipped to advance the public good.

Charitable nonprofits improve our lives, add vitality to our communities, contribute to our local and national economies, and enhance the health of our democracy. But too often, nonprofits are taken for granted and under-resourced, limiting their ability to advance their missions. The National Council of Nonprofits is the largest network of nonprofits in North America. We champion, inform, and con

nect organizations across the country to score big wins for nonprofits and the communities they serve. Working with our core network and other collaborative partners, we get things done. No one else wields the expertise, tenacity, and credibility to overcome threats and seize opportunities to keep the vital work of nonprofits strong. When nonprofits are well supported and connected to each other, everyone thrives. This is the future we’re working toward. Join our collective efforts to create a powerful nonprofit community that has what it needs to champion the public good. Learn more at www.councilofnonprofits.org.

🚨 BREAKING: The federal government just proposed sweeping changes that could impact funding to nonprofits serving your community.

Here is what happened: A federal agency that oversees government spending proposed rewriting the rules that govern how federal grant money flows to nonprofits, food banks, health clinics, housing programs, and local governments across the country.

Under the new proposal, any administration would have the power to freeze, cut, or cancel grants in the middle of a program, change the terms mid-performance, and decide which organizations receive funding based on political ideology rather than community need.

What that means for real people: Disruptions to housing assistance. Gaps in health services. Vital programs losing funding mid-year. Organizations that serve the most vulnerable communities would bear the biggest impact.

Nonprofits have until July 13 to fight back. Here is how to help:
✅ Sign the national letter opposing the proposal
✅ Submit a public comment
✅ Email your members of Congress

Nonprofits are often the bridge between federal resources and the people who need them most.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has proposed significant changes to the Uniform Guidance, the federal rules that govern grants and other financial assistance. These changes could affect nonprofits’ ability to access and administer funding that supports essential services in communities nationwide.

NCN is closely reviewing the proposal and will work to ensure nonprofits and community members have the opportunity to make their voices heard during the public comment period.
