CRC’s Tara and K9 Gunner recently attended the **Support That Saves Peer*, presented by FEMA, the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJ OHSP), and Texas A&M.

Continuing education and peer support training help strengthen the skills our teams bring when supporting first responders and communities during difficult times.

CRC was honored to be part of the **New Orleans Memorial Stair Climb and Mile of Silence Walk**, marking the **10th anniversary of this meaningful event**.

Each step honors the **343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers, and 8 emergency medical technicians** who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. The event also remembers local first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Ten years of climbing. Ten years of remembering. Ten years of ensuring their sacrifice is never forgotten.

CRC is grateful to stand alongside first responders, families, and community members as we **honor the fallen and remember their service.**

On Thursday, March 21st, 2024; A&O Working Dogs had the honor to join our amazing partners CRC - Crisis Response Canines at Amazon.com and bring a little joy to some well-deserving people.

A&O has had the privilege to work alongside CRC for the past three years and we couldn’t think of better teams to pave the way during our second visit to the folks at Amazon—for people who do their best to make sure others have less hassle in their days—we’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring a little bit of peace and happiness into yours!

Thank you to Andrea Hering, President, Co-Founder & John Hunt, COO, Co-Founder for years of friendship, support, trust and commonality. We look forward to our next visit together! 🐾❤️

Today, the CRC family is mourning the loss of a very special canine and one of CRC’s original dogs.

Exon
September 15, 2014 – August 21, 2026

I met Becky and Exon when he was a young, energetic, career-change Seeing Eye dog who came for therapy dog testing. None of us could have known then just how many lives this little man would go on to touch.

Exon found his purpose alongside Becky. Together, they served their local community and traveled across the country, bringing comfort to people during some of their most difficult moments. He was a therapy dog, a Crisis Response Canine, and one of CRC’s original founding canine members. His pawprints are forever woven into our history.

For me personally, it has been a privilege to work alongside Becky and Exon throughout their career and to witness the incredible partnership they shared.

Becky’s dedication to CRC extends far beyond the work people see. She volunteers many hours behind the scenes, always giving of herself to our teams and our mission. Today, one of our own is grieving the loss of her best friend and partner.

Please keep Becky and her family in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.

Rest easy, Exon. Thank you for every person you comforted, every community you served, and every pawprint you left on CRC. You will always be part of our story. 💙🐾

🐾 Ducky Supporting Our Maryland National Guard 🇺🇸

Ducky, a Crisis Response Canines (CRC) / American Red Cross Baltimore Therapy Dog, had the honor of attending the 175th IN Yellow Ribbon Event for the Maryland National Guard.

As these brave men and women and their families prepare for a deployment from September 2026 through November 2027, Ducky was there to provide what our canines do best smiles, love, comfort, and gentle support during an emotional and sensitive time. ❤️🐾

To the members of the Maryland National Guard preparing to deploy: thank you for your service and sacrifice. And to the families who will be supporting them from home, we are thinking of you, too.

From Ducky and all of us at Crisis Response Canines, we wish you a safe deployment. We’ll be thinking of you throughout your time away and can’t wait to welcome you home! 🇺🇸🐾

A huge thank you to the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation for having CRC participate in the Learning with Leaders series and have meaningful conversations about the future of this work.

While individual states and organizations may have their own standards and requirements, those expectations are not always consistent from one organization or one part of the country to another. Our conversation focused on the need for greater collaboration and a shared national standard so that all crisis response canine teams are working toward the same core criteria for training, competency, safety, and professionalism.

This isn’t about one organization or state defining their standards. It’s about bringing people together, sharing knowledge and experience, and having the conversations necessary to strengthen our industry collectively.

Since this conversation, we’ve received an incredible amount of interest and outreach. We’re grateful to everyone who has reached out, shared ideas, and wants to be part of what comes next.

Our in-person CRK9 training is one way we’re continuing that work bringing teams together for hands-on education focused on preparing canine and handler teams to work safely, effectively, and professionally in crisis response environments.
