Congratulations to Dr. Svetlana Mojsov for this most prestigious science award that recognizes her many years of hard work and dedication to biomedical research. Diabetes Action is proud to have helped fund Dr. Mojsov’s early research on GLP-1 that has led to groundbreaking treatments for type 2 diabetes and obesity.

One of the first grants that Diabetes Action provided back in 1993 was to Dr. Mojsov for a project titled “Studies on the Mechanism of Stimulation of Insulin Secretion by the Newly Discovered Glucagon-Like Peptide 1”. Diabetes Action provided funding to Dr. Mojsov throughout the 1990’s leading to several published papers on GLP-1. A dedicated scientist, Dr. Mojsov has continued to review research grants for Diabetes Action for many years. Thank you and congratulations!

One of the researchers described the circumstances that led to the discovery as “serendipity.”
