This hits home because his wife and I are members of another Police Wives Group. I got to thinking about how so many people are willing to help or offer condolences immediately after a tragedy like this and then that help and support dwindles quickly there after. I wanted to ensure that the wife and family know that even though the media coverage is gone, we still remember. We have not forgotten.
Their lives are forever changed and we acknowledge that even though our lives go on. In 12 hours on a private page, Christian Police Wives, I was able to set up a schedule for the Fallen Officer's wife and family to receive cards and/or gift cards weekly, biweekly and then monthly for the next two years. Then, I was thinking about how all the wives and families of Fallen Officers should receive the same love and support. We wives of Law Enforcement Officers share a special bond. It is a bond that goes deeper than just standing behind our spouses in uniform. It is a bond the unites us through loyalty, love and faith. Loyalty to the Men and Women we love who toe the Thin Blue Line. We stand with them and behind them always. We pray for their safe return after their shifts and have faith that they will come home but unfortunately sometimes they don't. This is when our bond grows even more deep. This is when we need to close ranks around them and make sure that they know we are family and we will always be there. When one of us falls, we all feel the pain, the sorrow and the deep loss of a family member. It is incumbent upon us all to love and support our own and honor our fallen warriors to the best of our ability. What better way is there than to flood their mailboxes with personal notes of love and encouragement for years to come? Reminders that we still remember and we still care and that someone is still praying for them. This is what I want to do: I want to reach out to all the Law Enforcement Families out there nationwide and launch LEOWs United (Law Enforcement Officers Wives United). I want to obtain donations to help these families by way of cards and gift cards. I want businesses to get behind us and donate gift cards. I want LEOWs to join me and help reach out a loving hand to these families. So here are my questions: Do you have any idea how I can do this, how we can do this? Any ideas on who I can contact? Any avenues I can pursue? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
