Charlie’s Place was founded in 1990 as a non-denominational, anti-hunger, homeless ministry of St. Margaret’s associate pastor, and Mongomery County Executive, the late Charles Gilchrist. What began as a group of socially concerned parishioners has now expanded to a weeklong program which prides itself on its reputation for providing a safe, reliable and welcoming environment. n, DC Charlie’s Place serves homeless and underprivileged populations in the neighborhoods of Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights in Washington DC. Although Charlie’s Place resides at an Episcopal Church our focus is to address social needs and not religious ones. Charlie’s Place takes special care in welcoming all people of any race, age, gender, background, faith or sexual orientations without judgment or evangelization of any kind.

We’re looking for gently worn clothing, including: socks, hats, gloves, long sleeved tee shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, boots, winter coats and jackets, for men and women. RIGHT NOW. We are hosting a Grab n’ Go Thanksgiving meal for our neighbors experiencing homelessness until 3pm TODAY. Meals will be handed out at the red doors by our team of volunteers in accordance with social distancing protocols.

ANNOUNCING: Charlie's Place will host a Grab n' Go Thanksgiving Meal on Tuesday, Nov 17th from 12:00-3:00PM for our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness this holiday season. Meals will be handed out by a small team of volunteers at the door in accordance with COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
