In response to the results of the "Change the Platform" campaign, our organization was singled out by some alt-right actors. These include Ryan Fournier as well as page "Radical Alert," the latter of which is particularly concerning. Radical Alert both targets young people and encourages violence against vulnerable populations. Our organization, J Street U Georgetown, and the Georgetown Israel Alliance stand against Radical Alert’s hateful rhetoric, regardless of any political disagreements we may have. We will not allow the alt-right to divide the Jewish people over the false politicization of antisemitism. We condemn their use of Jews as a political tool to perpetuate racist and antisemitic ideologies.

Update!: J Street U Georgetown is excited to announce that Georgetown University College Democrats have signed onto J Street’s “Change the Platform” campaign. In doing so, GUCD is standing with J Street U and other college Democrat chapters in urging the Democratic National Committee to add language to the Democratic Party platform opposing the Israeli government’s violations of international law in the Palestinian Territories. This includes opposing the annexation of the West Bank, opposing continued settlement building, opposing the military occupation, and calling for an end to the blockade of Gaza.

This is an important step in ensuring that the Democratic Party stays true to its values of human rights and democracy. As a pro-Israeli, pro-Palestinian, pro-peace organization, J Street U Georgetown believes that adding this language to the Democratic Party platform is not only essential to promoting the human rights of Palestinians but also to ensuring a flourishing Israeli society. Israel is an important ally of the United States in the Middle East and J Street remains committed to the strong bond between the United States, including the Democratic Party, and Israel. However, J Street firmly believes that the Israeli occupation of the West Bank is detrimental to Israeli society and national security in the long-run. Continued occupation threatens the stability of Israeli democracy, undermines the rights of Palestinians, and impedes any potential peace process and eventual resolution to the situation.

With the threat of annexation looming, this addition of language is more important than ever. The Democratic Party already has strong pro-Israel language in its platform so we are calling on party leaders and officials to add this new language affirming the human rights and self-determination of Palestinians to the platform, a move we believe is essential to preserving the Democratic Party’s values.

J Street U Georgetown categorically condemns anti-Semitism and racism. We understand our efforts in this campaign as essential to our Jewish and democratic values.

We again thank GUCD for signing on to the campaign. We are proud of the advocacy and activism of all of J Street U Georgetown’s team members that has brought about this success!

In less than 70 days, Netenyahu has vowed to annex the West Bank. This is a catastrophic promise and its imperative that we act! Sign J Street's petition showing that Americans are opposed to this disastrous decision!!‼️👏‼️

We will fight from now until July 1 to prevent annexation and defend the prospects for a negotiated solution which gives both Israelis and Palestinians the peace, security and freedom they deserve.

Embattled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made Israeli annexation of the West Bank a central pledge in his reelection campaign. In recent days, he has called on his political rivals to join him in moving forward with annexation, and claimed President Trump has given him a green light to annex huge swaths of the West Bank.

Annexation would doom Palestinians to permament occupation and lead to disastrous consequences for Israel's democracy and security.

With President Trump refusing to step in, it's vital that Congress speak up. In the coming days, the House will vote on H.Res.326, legislation that firmly opposes West Bank annexation and asserts longstanding US opposition to continued settlement expansion.

Please stand on the side of Israelis and Palestinians who long for peace. Support H.Res.326 and make it clear Congress firmly opposes any move by the Israeli government to annex the West Bank.
