The Teamsters Waste Division currently represents more than 32,000 private sector waste workers across the United States and Canada. Founded in 2006, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters created this stand-alone Division to counter the growing power and coordinated strategies of large multi-national corporations in the sanitation industry; and to aggressively organize the more than 180,000 unorganized workers in the waste and recycling industries.
