We are happy to announce our new partnership!
Beginning on September 1, 2023, the Children of God Relief Fund (COGRF/Nyumbani-USA) has entered into a grant agreement with Journey, the Ed Colina Foundation to provide food support to individuals being treated for HIV/AIDS. As a former volunteer at the Nyumbani Village, Ed was inspired to do more and now he and his associates have established several small projects in underserved areas throughout Kenya. The Foundation plans to use our grant to provide much needed food to hundreds of HIV+ individuals receiving medication at the Kakuma Mission Hospital in Turkana, Kenya.
The Kakuma Mission Hospital Comprehensive Care Clinic distributes anti-retroviral medications to HIV+ children and adults in the region. However, the efficacy of those medications is dependent on proper nutrition, which is often difficult, if not impossible, in poverty- and drought-stricken communities. COGRF is excited to be able to provide the critical funding that will allow the Foundation to procure and distribute food that is rich in nutrients and vitamins, such as beans, rice, lentils, green grams, and maize, as well as salt and cooking oil, to more than 650 HIV+ children and adults under the Clinic's care.
We are happy to announce that the distribution of the first shipment of life-saving food has already begun. We are grateful to Ed, his staff at the Foundation, and the management and staff at the Kakuma Mission Hospital for their wonderful work, and we look forward to our continuing partnership.
